I'm 15 and not even close to finishing my high school years. But i'm looking ahead and wondering if I should head to college or university to study in becoming a civil engineer.

I have a question, don't know if it will be answered but

I'm a civil engineering student (a senior) and one of the things I'm worrying about the most is that I don't think my communication skill is good enough for engineering training after graduation. I don't know if this is going to be a major problem when working. I've been studying for 5 years and about to graduate and never had an internship.

Again, is there a lot of writing (specifications....and things like that) in early years?

Writing specifications would be for the more experienced engineers(Maybe some with even masters). Since your fresh out of college, you will work on lighter task under an experienced engineer.

Some, but early years focus mostly on learning design principles. When you get hired.. get copies of reports & specs that others have prepared and use them as templetes. When you send email, read it twice and spell check! Always be professional. Most firms will help you develop as a professional as long as you work hard, remain honest, and always strive to continue improving. Learn from everyone. You won't use much of what you've studied in school.. so working will be different.
