I had originally nearly dismissed the RBE idea without bothering to look into it because I unquestioningly 'believed' that human nature makes it completely 'impossible' to have a world without war, crime and poverty. Now I understand how poorly educated and stupid my 'belief' was.

By the way there still will be some work but done by choice and technology will do a lot of it and continue to do so as it is already is. called Technological unemployment which is being hidden under the term jobless recovery.

No starving people and no greedy people. Human behavior changes in the money system so it will normalize in the RBE.

As a 4th year engineer, i'm well aware of technology and the free markets inherent need to maintain consumption. These guys are just advocating an awareness of the scientific method and technology (which can ONLY be a good thing). If you consider that a cult, we have some other HUGE problems.

@lemsip TVP is "the application of science & technology for SOCIAL concern." Reliance on technology does not automatically entail isolation from each other or nature. Think about it: We create environmentally friendly, sustainable, clean cities, where wildlife is nearby, and is not in danger of getting hit by gas powered cars on sporadic roads and highways, or in danger of land/water pollution. With advanced automation & robotics, we'd have loads more free time to learn & interact w/eachother.

@vidic245 Its basically basing a countries wealth on the quantity and quality of its natural resources. This way you create abundance and when there's abundance then money pretty much becomes obsolete. It also requires a design revolution in order for this to work. For example, when we create a factory to make cars we have design these factories to be as automated as possible so that the production of cars is dependent on human labour, etc.

@vidic245 In turn people have the time to really think about what htey would like to do with their lives, wether it be working, studying, being with family etc. The quality of a persons life will also be a key factor to measuring wealth. The trouble is if you don't have any understanding of the Resource Based Economy idea.....the idea of people having everything for 'free' just sounds crazy. It was great that it got mentioned on mainstream tv but I don't think that will have made people look into the idea.

@peterjol As you say, "it just sounds crazy"'...well, I can think of lots of things that sound crazy and one of them is that the current system meets only the needs of the financial institutions and that also sounds crazy with the speed of which technology has already moved us so far passed the need for it. If I can locate a tool or a plan for a tool and the resources to build it, that assists my life and assists the community with less the attention from financial gaming lords, why wouldn't I?
