CrownedWithLaurels: I merely said that I was disappointed in not having the banked track as part of the game. I didn't declare that the sport should be discontinued. Hopefully some enterprising business organization will return Roller Derby's use of the banked track.

I am very disappointed that Roller Derby no longer uses the banked track. It made the game 100% more exciting and would attract sold out houses. This thing of simply skating around a flat floor takes away so much from the game. Even I as a true long time fan of Roller Derby found myself turning the channel when I saw these women merely skating around a matted floor.Each team in the league needs to invest money in financing a banked track for Roller Derby. Otherwise, the sport will disappear.

@newbeginxyz Are you insane!? The sport would disappear if people insisted on banked tracks. They're prohibitively expensive, roller derby leages wouldn't be able to start up in gyms and community halls, it would make it less accessible and people would stop getting into the sport. Of course banked tracks are cooler, but it's just not possible or practical for everyone to have them.

@THEmotownboy I think you'll find that that nearly all of the amateur roller derby leagues worldwide are flat track. Banked tracks are really expensive and unless you have a designated area for it (eg. Doll Factory in Los Angeles) it's too hard for inter-league bouting.

@prettymini214 grab a pair of cheap skates & pads and get on them everyday even if its raining wear them in the house and get the contact details of your local derby team they will train you how to skate i hadnt skated since i was 5 ...20 years ago now im a derby babe you can be too!!!! go for it girl!! :D x

Looks like a derby video shot by a derby neophyte. Instead of capturing big hits or jammers juking the blockers, they focused on skaters falling down.

This is the best league out there. I'm sure there was lots better action going on during this bout.
