  • 30% music 70%cinema

  • Maybe their two-millenia evolution comes from the fact that only those who mastered the old ways can come up with something new.

  • People who don't like this have big proplems

  • Love it. It is so relaxing I feel asleep

  • Lovely! The heart of the Chinese is in that music !

  • Maravilha,a música realmente é espetacular.....

  • You cann't image this music have been for almost two thousand years.

  • 好'棒

  • I'm not chinese, but I must recognize that chineses are the best on what they do. Their culture is rich and beautiful and they have a lot of discipline. It's certainly a masterpiece performed by a talented person.

  • Her skills is amazing!

  • She would be amazing if she can wear her traditional clothes: Hanfu!!!

  • I love this instrument but i prefer the pipa and erhu, which i wish to learn to play, but gotta save up to buy the instruments first. if anyone is interested in music like this look up the 12 girls band

  • now can we all get over shit and just enjoy the music pleez?

  • is a fantastic music that is just an alternative to our highest Italian or European classical music

  • @LeonardoRighini alternative? what do you mean? China itself has in many senses more cultural expresions than the rest of the world.

  • @therkenos I love Chinese music by LIU because she makes great music of its people as much as we do with our music

  • majestueux

  • Interesting sound control and modulation played by the left hand.

  • woooowww so cooool song ..i really want to visit china ..i love china culture .so rich & so wonderfull ..china is the best asian country viva china peace ^_^

  • Even among Chinese instruments there is a bit of "caste" distinction. "Guzheng" is literally "ancient harp" It is considered an instrument of the scholars and high art. The compositions for guzheng is poetic and contemplative.

It not intended to be played for song and dance type of entertainment. I might be wrong but the guzheng is never used in Chinese regional operas. Probably the same reason why the western harp is not found in rock bands.

  • The longer I listen to the Guqin the higher I climb into the clouds

  • thumbs if at 1:21 if you didn't know if she was watching her manicure or something like that ^ ^

  • i wonder what the peice was called that as in Kung Fu Hustle....hmmmmm

  • @mythical73 It is a specially made piece for that movie, It is called Midnight assasin and blade of the Guqin :)

  • can you give me the lyrics on how to play? thanks

  • wow, dont you just love the chinese and there music, so peacfull and clam with the music

  • Rihanna say hello to talent. Such delicate yet strong, beautiful fingers i envy the chinese and its culture

  • peaceful...

  • @asiancustoms wrong country... lol....

  • @asiancustoms "they?" i assume you are speaking of group of dead individuals now doing no harm. "they" who can never represent any fraction of Japanese people living today now doing no harm. fuck the millions of people like you with mouths unqualified and voices unmuzzled.

  • qual o nome desse instrumento ??

  • @jucabala96 guzheng

  • @jucabala96 as mentionned, it's called a Gu Zheng

  • i love the sound of Chinese instruments. =D

  • SO RELAXING!!

  • i've become entranced by the gu qin intrstument. sounds silly, but i owe it all to "kung fu hustle" ..such beautiful music made

  • she sure is kicking ass on that whatevercalled instrument... heavy stuff

  • my one week old baby sleeps to this ... relaxes her... lol nd me

  • I have a high respect for this magnificeint instrument. This 2000 year historical work of art, trancends any contemporary music. When I listen to the zither I always feel positive emotional refreshness and romantically content. Hearing this played I seem to imagine a special story even from the music of it.

  • Dear friends in music, as demanded by the artist, all political related comments will be deleted. It doesn't mean that they are bad; it is just distraction from music appreciation.

  • @moremusicale i love/adore this comment

  • i think she plays wonderfully, i've seen her in the Netherlands performing.

  • It's difficult to hear the intricate things Miss Fang does. Still a beautiful performance even though the recording wasn't very good.

  • @ShaolinDeadlyGamers I disagree. The recording is crystal clear and I can hear all the details of her music.

  • GTFO with all the politics and crap, this is youtube not heavydebatetube.

  • 劉芳的古箏及琵琶演奏都絕妙,人亦漂亮,額頭飽滿,顯示出她是絕頂聰慧的人.

  • @BentleyLeung She certainely is a good musician. But if the Google translation is correct, your remarks about her skull shape are going too far... (I don't read Chinese)

  • bellissimo

  • @momlily2 first off, America is over there to prevent the spread of TERRORISM, not to gain anything and if they weren't blowing each other up and driving planes into buildings then maybe the U.S wouldn't b involved, and second, America isn't bombing them. and Yes i think it's wrong that The u.s is interfering because why should we die for other people's stupidity and power lust?

  • @TheDaveWallace I agree with your first three statements, but i got to admit your fourth happens to make you sound ridiculously educated and quite frankly retarded. You realize that just because there is a sea of idiots in certain places, does not make every one there stupid and power hungry. Next time you feel like coming out with a comment like that how about you actually think about what your going to say. And I agree with hardfi GTFO with these damn politics I would like to enjoy some music

  • @inlflamesace -people started shit first with me, so i answered back, you font like my opinion on politics fine, and yeah ur right why the hell am i talking bout politics, oh right some asshole made a comment that pissed me off, i view things differently than everyone else. and i'm entitled to think that, it doesn't mean they are facts that everyone else had to agree with, jeez people. get a grip

  • @TheDaveWallace - i think i can comment on it because, im not one of "those" Americans. I'm not a selfish greedy person like the majority of my population. Im not interested in gaining wealth or power or land like the majority of america, im a simple person who flows with life. so don't judge me on my stupid country, because not every "american" is like that, cuz i sure the hell am not. and personally, every country and government is fuked up, cuz we r human and do stupid shit and make mistakes.

  • @PhantomBloodsteel

You need to read your own history books :)....

  • @PhantomBloodsteel couldn't we be get rid of this crap. We are talking about music, here ... Forget politics, for a while, take a breath ...

  • @edelahaye well maybe if people weren't assholes to begin with and say shit about what i posted, which wasn't bad in the first place, then i wouldnt have been in the stupid arguement, but no people are immature fuktwads that like 2 start shit. and they piss me off. and i seriously enjoy this music regardless of what anyones says, and wish that people wuld leave me the hell alone. so i would get off this crap, but other people wont stop pestering,

  • ХУЕВОЕ ПИАНИНА!))))

  • @oOCashMonkeyOo lmao. thanks for communism much culture was destroyed. still ... shoot the reds and make the country free.

  • 稽康之千古絕響啊

  • Very like China Traditional Music, So I collected hundreds of such type videos in my site. If you also like it, please search "hzguzheng" by google. You can find it.

  • wow

  • she is very good but also very agressive in her way to play

  • @TheWuguanKoeln Well she is a pipa player as well :) I always think of pipa as being the heavy rock side of Chinese music.

  • putin le temp qu'il faut pour qu'elle commence a jouer

  • @yarabisalama Commentaire débile d'un arabe tout aussi débile. T'as rien à foutre sur des vidéos de musique asiatique.

  • Hi what is the name of this instrument ? thanks

  • It would be better if she dresses hanfu.

  • and this is hanfu she was wearing

  • @kt8911 This is Manchurian Dress.

  • Wow, she is really in to it.. I love the intensity of the way she controls it.. never saw the instrument before today, but it seems like a different kind of a harp..

Always had a fascination of this kind of classic music..

  • @Beelzza It actually is a Chinese Harp I believe.

I have played them before, not to this extent of course or else I'd make videos too!

Very beautiful serene instrument, I want to learn how to play one quite badly :)

  • Probably a stupid question, but how did this piece survive thousands of years? There wasnt written musical notation when this was created thousands of years ago was there?

  • same way the Iliad and the Odyssey did in Ancient Greece. It was "orally taught". Basically a player would teach it to their student and he would play and teach it more spreading it. Obviously the version you hear nowadays might be very different from the original as people changed and added stuff to it over time. Then when musical notation was being used, somebody transcribed it. Same way as many ancient books.

  • @BoardOnSnoh hun...not sure, but I think there is some kind of work being passed from ancient china - a form of notation written in chinese characters. I also heard about a massive amount of these works had been lost during the long history of chinese tradition music. What's been left now are absolutely the master pieces which is famous and popular so that they survived a bit longer than the ones already lost. but yes, as the tradition, these are most taught orally, even they were noted.

  • See silkqin(. )com( /)02qnpu(/ )07sqmp(/ )sq02gls(. )htm for the whole history of this piece.

  • If I hear and see that instrument I always think of these guys from Kung Fu Hustle who killed with it^^

    Great Video!

  • very soothing....but i wonder....did somebody drop something and shadered in the end of this video?

  • Very delicate and gentle, like water. One of my favourite instruments.

  • THIS SOLO tell about one of the most distngished artist in CHina, in Jin Danstany, about 1800 years before.who was sentenced to death by the king, before he was killed, he remained confortable and played this solo.

  • O_O wow! that's sad...T_T

  • very pretty an soothing

  • its a Mongolian suit she is wearing

  • it's a qing dynasty dress, so it's technically chinese. a Mongolian formal dress is different nowadays.

  • very harmony and beautiful

  • I agree chinese culture is the most magnificent.

  • china has the best culture of all!!

    wo ai zhong guo!!

  • with comments like that you just want people to say that chinese culture is nothing at all. Don t provoke, there are several other great cultures. Although I also really like the chinese culture.

  • yes, but tell me another culture wich have history above 5000 - 7000 years.... but sadly they got westernized more and more.... so they nearly don't care bout their culture. there is a kalligraphie-script, i don't know the name, but this script only one person knows and he is above 90 years.... if he dies, the script dies with him...

  • there are other old and great cultures that didn't exist that long, but we (europeans) see them as our heritage as you see the old chinese culture as your heritage.

And it is true what you are saying. There are so many great cultures and they get westernized more and more. Even the way of life gets westernized. I really think that those cultures are worth preserving. I just have to take this music as example. It is beautiful and can't be translated into western music without losing its beauty

  • yes, i agree with you! and the reason why i like only chinese culture so much is, that i hardly know other cultures except asian ones..... and if you think i'm chinese, i'm not chinese i'm also european ^^

  • Your comment is interesting, and has much truth in it. I want everyone here to tell me what is the best way to preserve our cultures and learn others at the same time. I too fear about us losing our traditions and cultures, for once that has happened and we have one global culture that is FALSE we will all be doomed. This has been the decline of nearly every civilization and now as a global one i fear decline. We must preserve and learn at the same time, but how... I am now but how

  • ran out of space...

but how do we teach the children(insert question mark here)

As two examples of lost culture that wrecked entire civilizations i give that of Easter Island and Angkor Wat. Easter Island lost their culture of being avid sailors that could navigate by the stars and know they were close to islands just by placing their tow in the water...

Angkor Wat lost its tradition of farming and being one with nature and it`s water table...

    Both suffered very painful destruction

  • To be honest I don't fear globalisation. There are some bad sides about it, but I actually can live with it quite well. I don't feel like I have to stick to some old culture. It's actually even the contrary: I see myself as a creator of a new culture (as all of us are), who is learning from old cultures. To preserve our cultures there is probably no other way than being proud (or making people proud) of their own culture. Cultures are come and die, but the good ones preserve.

  • for example I guess that when the wealth of the chinese people gets bigger and they have better working conditions (for example less working hours) and I am sure that they will reminisce the old chinese culture. And maybe they can even push it that far that it will become part of the worlds mainstream culture. And they don't even have to stick to their old culture, they can take the old one and make something new, exciting out of it.

    Don't worry

  • ohhh i love it *_*

  • This is absolutely beautiful... China has amazing culture. I love it.

  • Very elegant

  • the song has a lovely melody

  • An ancient tune from Wei era!

    Dreams are eternal through millennia...

  • she is really good

  • I love this music! It's so great how China keeps their traditional instruments and culture. I just love this stuff.

  • TAOIST SONG Xi K'ang I will cast out Wisdom and reject learning; My thoughts shall wander in the silent Void. Always repenting of wrongs done Will never bring my heart to rest. I cast my hook in the single stream; But my joy is though i possesed a Kingdom. I loose my hair and go singing; To the four frontiers men join my refrain. This is the purport of my song: "My thoughts shall wander in the Silent Void."
  • I dunno how can the ancient people play Guzhang without notes?

  • they had a text note system

  • how do u tune this... u have to tune it somehow... and what are the name of all the strings?

  • From the performer's angle- to the right end of the instrument is a hidden compartment you can open to tune the strings. For instance, there is metal part that interlocks the special tuning tool that came with the instrument. The strings are called "Qin Xian".

I have one of these and have been playing since i was 6 years old.

  • i know her personally....she is a great artist...But she had some "Huiagyua"........!!!

  • don't forget Celtic-that music is someties quite spiritual and relaxing.

  • there is also a similar hungarian instrument called citera, it produces some magical sounds also, I always thought that the closest folk musics to absolute peacefulness and divine sensibility are hungarian, chinese, mongolian and native american

  • Will I EVER be able to play this song like her.... *sigh* T_T

  • Who is this "I"?
