  • WHAT A PIECE OF MUSICAL BEAUTY!

THAT SOUNDTRACK IS SO UNBELIEVABLE MOTIVATING!

GREETINGS FROM GREECE WHIT LOVE MY BOND-BROTHERS.

  • Uncharted 3

  • @lawlzownage This is in Uncharted 3?

  • @olliesmith132 no but its look like the same kind of music ;-)

  • When I listen to this particular cue, I have the feeling John Barry was preparing himself before working on some of the great musical cues he composed in Dances With Wolves around 2-3 years later. Don't you think?

  • David Arnold came close to this type of quality in the World's not enough and Casino Royale.

  • @degraves2003 Nowhere near close. David Arnold's is second-hand, third rate stuff. Garage sale Bond music rip-offs.

    This is the real deal.

  • @RogueRotting360

I disagree. I think David Arnold can be as good as Barry If he would lay off the synthesizers and heavy percussions. Some of Arnold best stuff has little or no drums and percussions which tend to drown out the melody of a theme.

John Barry's style changed throughout the series and I think his latter ones are a lot better then some of his earlier endeavors.

  • @degraves2003 OHMSS, Thunderball, You Only Live Twice and Diamonds are Forever were fine scores.

About Arnold... he'll never be in John Barry's league. Where's his equivalent of Barry's musical study at York Minster, or William Russo's correspondence courses in jazz orchestration, his John Barry Seven, his Midnight Cowboy, Lion in Winter, Out Of Africa et al?

He's got very little output or experience outside of Bond, and is overly reliant on Nicholas Dodd's orchestration. That shows.

I guess this is where we agree to disagree. You do raise valid points but I still think that Arnold is capable of being as good as Barry. I agree that his music isn't as good as Barry and that they are probably few composers as good as Barry but that doesn't mean Barry can't evolve as a composer. Arnold is getting better every film.

  • @degraves2003 "but that doesn't mean Barry can't evolve as a composer."

John's evolving as a composer in heaven. Sadly we can't hear his compositions.

I agree about Arnold's improvements (with QOS - not CR), but he should go back to manuscript paper, and let someone else do the MIDI mockups on Sibelius, and a read a book or two on orchestration. You're never too old to learn.

  • I love it

  • I think this is the best passage from the movie.

  • RIP John Barry. He was the greatest ever.

  • The ``drums`` i guess, sound`s a lil´ like Game Of Death, another good Barry theme of course.
