hey! Great video! I just found out the Reivers are back together, as "Right or Happy" and are playing Hole in the Wall in Austin THIS TUESDAY! 9/27/11. wow!
Did The Reivers open for The Pixies at The Texas Union Ballroom in October 1989? I saw them, Zeitgiest-Reivers, several times, and have a hazy memory of them getting the Pixies opener?? BTW, The Pixies, as great as they were, were uninspired and worn out at that Austin show. The Reivers were always at least good, and many times, great.
bring me back to 1990 please. want to be back at the pub in the Union w/ the Reivers on stage and my good friends all around. thanks for the good times.

Freight Train Rain by Zeitgeist/The Reivers is up in the pantheon of great 3 minute songs with Buddy Holly, the Clash et al. I first heard it while at Uni in Aberdeen and it has adorned many a compilation cd since.
Love and mercy to the band. Wish I'd known about the gig - everyone says Austin is fine, it would be nice to see it as well as its finest.
Highly underrated Austin band. The Reivers had everything, but the usual record company push. I'm glad they reunited to play again (life's too short) but I wish I would have heard about it in enough time to make the trip to Texas...
The Reivers was a great band. I must have seen then a dozen times or more when they'd play Dallas. Maybe I'm just getting old (well, for sure I am) but today's music just doesn't offer me anything; all the younger rockers sing about is self-involved, self-indulgent me-me-me crap. The Reivers not only knew how to rock and how to bring you into a catch melody, but also how to write songs that expressed their feelings while also making those very personal songs seem universal.
gawd, this makes me wish I had a time machine...I love lots of bands, but if I had to pick one to be stranded with on a desert island, it'd be the Reivers.
John Croslin was renting my house when I bought it. I had seen Zeitgeist and The Reivers over the years, so it was a surprise to connect with him again. Cool dude. Great band. Was Pop Beloved ever reissued?
What happened to the Reivers? They were around when I was in college. Many young bands are good, but they were professional. (early 90's) Hope they are all doing something musically.
Anyone hear of the group Funland? The drummer (whi i graduated highschool in Texas with, Will Johnson) is personal friends with these guys! Did a few things with them also! Thanks for this!
boredmonkey rules! thank you thank you thank you for posting this! i love the reivers!!! i recorded them on rick dees short-lived talkshow, but the tape broke. i was soooo sad. you have just made my day!
Kim is the cutest rock girl ever. Ever.

One of my favorite Austin bands in the 80's when I lived there. I felt bad when they lost the Zeitgeist name, the Reivers name never quite caught on.

by the way, fans might wish to check out bye bye pride by the Go-betweens. A wonderful sound!

hey special friend - enjoy the show! 3 things:
1) have a great time
2) think of me a little while you're there
3) tell me all about it someday

Unfortunelty Pop Beloved is out of print. You can find it if you dig. You will pay-but timeless and well worth it.

Terrific band. The Reivers consistently made superb music with John and Kim`s vocals blending together so well. Great performance.
