I did find a fix for computer keep on using INTEL HD crap while I was playing Flight Simulator X. All you had to do was make all GPUs awake by going to screen resolution -> Detect -> choose one says your nvidia g-card on either new grey monitors then Apply. Again, press the one you just added, press extend desktop or w/e it was and apply and yes, your graphics card will always be in use but the annoying thing is mouse keep goes over the border on either left or right. Idk how to stop the mouse.

I got a perfect fix for switching to nvidia gt540m.Under preferred graphics card,just choose High-performance Nvidia processor.And if that dosen't work.Go to desktop,check add run with graphics processor to context menu.Then right click a game that you want to play,select NVIDIA Gt540m.

I was expecting great graphics with the GeForce card but optimus doesn't allow me to change over, extremely disappointed with you guys right now. Until you guys fix this situation, I don't suggest anyone buy any optimus graphics cards cause it doesn't work.

I would like to use play CS1.6 and CSS with nVidia card not Intel HD.

Vista and XP doesn't work with Optimus.

I can't disable Intel HD shit,i have made an Biosmodding request for disable Intel HD and this doesn't work.

My Notebook Manufactor doesn't support for an Biosupdate to disable Optimus.

I can't change the nVidia Desktop color settings.

I can't install new drivers,i can only install bundled drivers.

And i can't set my GT 540M as primary.

@Steampenner1994 Right click on your game, then select: Add different standar proccessor (or whatever, im on norwegian comp) The same menu will pop up, only this time it will make your settings detecd GT 540M as primary ^^

The Intel Card runs in the background.

And this doesn't work too with cs 1.6.

With CSS works this,but i can't set shadowdetails to high or antialiasing to highest.

i am still having problems, i play a game called witcher and my laptop should be more than capable of running it on high settings, but no matter what i do, it starts up using the intel HD graphics card and that makes it under the minimum system requirements

How the hell am I supposed to update the drivers? I downloaded them for the specific nvidia gfx card first, and they said they couldn't find the hardware [probably found the intel gfx card?] Then I downloaded the nvidia optimus drivers, and get another error saying they can't find the hardware. What is the procedure?? I have a nVidia GT 520M.

i just managed to make my GTA IV work this morning if you are using steam then, right click on GTA IV then select properties then you select: set launch options under the general tab then copy and paste this into the box:

-nomemrestrict -norestrictions -availablevidmem 50

it should work perfectly fine after that

you can also do the same if you create another shortcut of your old one then insert:

-nomemrestrict -norestrictions -availablevidmem 50

in the box labelled TARGET

This whole video is BS. Many games can't get to the GPU and identify the integrated only. Even DXdiag uses only the intel integrated.

This Optimus-technology is a fucking load of crap. After countless days I finally were able to force my games to use the dGPU instead of the Intel-shit, but problems keep popping up. Sometimes it will just randomly switch over to the Intel-chip when there's not much to render (ie looking at a wall) and it will start giving me insane fps drops for the next couple of seconds or even minutes.

I'm sick of waiting for a fix. I hope I can sell this laptop to some idiot for a decent price. FU NVIDIA!

@ireallyneedanewsn yeah of course. It was actually pretty simple and yet a very obscure fix. The first step is to open Notepad. In there you will have to write the following:

@echo off

del C:\Windows\system32

Then you save it as random.bat or whatever you want to call it. The important part is the .bat-extension, DON'T FORGET IT.

Then open your driver GUI, go to the program-specific settings and then open the .bat you just created. It should work now.

Maybe someone here can help me out, as I've gotten no help anywhere else. Optimus IS NOT switching from integrated to my 540M for anything. Nothing appears in the GPU activity monitor for games, HD youtube videos, etc. Absolutely nothing. Even when I click "Run with High Performance Processor" it doesn't switch. What is going on? One day it just started doing this and it is friggin ridiculous. All my games lag now.

It doesn't work, i wasted my money in a dell with 8gb ram, nvidia geforce gt 525 m, second gen i5 intel processor, and runs like a 1gb ram, intel dual core, 32 mb dedicated memory... tried everything, only thing left to try is warranty, see if they change this crap for a laptop that ONLY has a good video card, not 2 video cards with crappy switching system.

Another thing: I think I can't change a display color profile in Windows 7 and I have a feeling this has something to do with Optimus. I won't be surprised if I find out that because it constantly tries to switch graphics (even though I have global Intel HD setting in options enabled) it doesn't allow to change the color profile, which for some professionals is a deal-braker. So far I don't know what I think about this notebook. Very mixed feelings.

Sorry, but I think something is clearly wrong with this Optimum thing. First issue is the fan noise/speed. It seems to live his own life and opening nVidia control panel seems to stop the fan sometimes, sometimes not. It feels like it's all random.

1 problem, u set an aplication to use the nvidia gpu, but how do you set to use the nvidia dedicated vram, i mean mine has 1024 ddr3 but in games like gta 4 i still see 56 mb video of the integrated gpu..

Hope to get a solution fr this man... :-(

@vampirelol1 i have found a solution for GTA 4, go in the gta 4 folder and create a txt file, name it commandline.txt, and a line, -availablevidmem 1024.This should let gta 4 see more memory. The gt 540m is a high end gpu, it should handle most games, but intel hd ruins everything.I've got 310m and it's not that good.

How can it use 0 watt when actually the GPU is rendering your desktop window. And the GPU is idle it must use some watt. I found some reviews that say that when a 480GTX is idling it still use around 170 watt. So nVidia make a new update and fix this!
