The only thing I'd modify is to make the center of the river a little lighter (not a lot, really just a little) and make that dark area wider and more blended. The depth perception with that kind of gradient makes me think of a riverbed shaped like a V when, in large rivers, is more like a wide U.
@Shannariano Thanks and Good point. I thought the same thing when I looked at the video. I actually had it blended more and then went over it again because it hadn't coated the paper thoroughly. I had already spent 1/2 hour trying out different colors and just quickly went back over this final piece with only two colors, which left it much less blended. :)
I think the green would look a little more realistic. Just not sure if for a gaming board it wouldn't clash a little to much with a lush enviroment, I'd have to see a finished piece.
@Grifftrogg Hmm.. A bit darker perhaps. I think it would be darker after coatings, but the base might need to be darker as well. Thanks for your thought.
The blue is really pretty, like a tropical sea...
For a table I have always preferred the brownish greenish shades.

id like to see at least a shopping trolley in one of these rivers one day... THEN i'll say it looks realistic! XD
seriously though, that colour scheme looks like it could really work! i look forward to seeing the next progress report!
