I play both instruments, also the tenor recorder, organ, and harpsichord. The last two are both keyboards, so not much different from the piano, as far as playing them is concerned.

With your skills on the piano and interest in composition, I would recommend getting a good digital piano to give you more tools in composing. When i was little and playing, i would always mess around with the different sounds and a new riff would come out of that. Staying with one sound can inhibit your creativity, at least for me it did. I'm just starting to get back into piano so i can't really recommend a good one but as of now I'm looking at the MP5 model. Great keyset and tools

One more thing about the MP5 is that its price is pretty reasonable for what you get (its actually a professional stage piano, costs 1200$). I'd love to see what you come up with on a digital/stage piano. Sounds from all genres to play with.
