i got a tattoo done 2 days ago, at first all over the colours were vivid, though now sort of in the largest colored in black section it looks a lighter shade of black in patches, like it's been colored in with a black texta or something. i watched the artist go over this section very thoroughly though and it's not like i can see through to the skin. it's just lighter. is that normal while it's healing? like..will it all even out?
It went great. The pain was pretty much what I expected, but after about 5 minutes, I got used to it. The last 30 minutes or so was kinda rough though...

Just got my first tattoo; a pretty cool scorpion; but my artist (who's been don' for 22 years in one of the oldest shops in town says all the stuff we just heard above but he emphasized NO lotions or any petrolium or any creams at all.."just leave it alone; any comments out there Adam
@aslo414 hey :) congrats on your 1st tatt i'll bet it will be the first of many ;) yeah,loads of tattooists give different advice dependant on where you go. i have many tatts and i work as a tattooists assistant,the general rules for all tattooists (i have been inked by loads of people) is to just keep it clean and dont mess with it whilst its healing i live in the U.K (dont know where you're from sorry) and i use BEPANTHEN on my tatts it's a babys nappy rash healing cream.....
@aslo414 *continued* it works really well for me.As a tattooists assistant i would advise that you listen to your tattooist,he/she is experienced and if the have tatts themselves they obviously know what they are talking about. HOWEVER there are tattooists out there that are not fit for practice so my advice is always check out their work (not just flashes) speak to people who have had tatts from the tattooist you wil ble using check the shops health certificates etc...hope this helps :) x
