Sun Country is a small band out of Cincinnati, Ohio. Their fan base is still very small and they are trying to build it in order to make a tour possible.
Whoa! What a sparkling, half-hidden meaning this song has. If only every person stood so strong against temptation; "and he stood and he stood and he stood..."
first - regarding "comments strayin' from th video" - AMEN. to the point - fleet foxes have soul, rhythm, an' depth; steeleye span possess none of these qualities.
Dislike. It may be because I am use to the Steeleye Span version but I think it's too vague and wishy-washy. I usually like the Fleet Foxes, I am disappoint
I honestly thing they should have varying levels of "like" on youtube because I honestly believe this song is one of Fleet Foxes' best, (that's an understatement)
@LesGimpyTortues Sad combination of lack of demand for old school ballads and totalitarian copyright laws makes this kind of track tricky to hear without going out on a limb and buying. Try listening to Bob Dylan's House Carpenter if you want a challenge.
I dislike the phoniness Dylan exudes, I also dislike the fact that people seem to think most of his songs are original when in fact a lot of them are variations of other folk melodies, verses, and in some cases poetry.
@Sshelly34213 Balls. The likes of Dylan can take the content and tone of an almost forgotten tune and inject it with musical flavour and energy in a way that was never presented before. You seem to be implying that old songs are somehow more original. Musicians have always taken the music of their predecessors and peers and attempted to bring something of themselves to it. Mozart, Robert Johnson, Bob Dylan, the Byrds, every single classic balladeer that ever lived, etc.
@morganstev I utterly disagree, The Byrds, Robert Johnson and Mozart are all magnificent. Bob Dylan? Phony, fake, and I absolutely abhor him. Sorry to disagree, but I just do.
Actually I find just the opposite when I listen to Bob Dylan. All of his covers are exciting and thrilling and yet the originals by Dylan are duller than dirt.
@morganstev If you find Bob Dylan exciting go ahead, I just completely disagree with that. I find that I enjoy the most simplistic takes on folk songs, a little guitar or piano and a voice. That's all it takes for me to become absorbed in a folk song.
I also dislike how dishonest he is as an artist, he tried to pay Jean Ritchie to shut up about one of his arrangements he borrowed from her.
@TheMasterOfSounds Excuse me, not all of his songs are original and if you think that, you're ignorant. Bob Dylan's early work consisted of folk covers which, for the most part he marked down as traditional. Others, where he wrote in his own lyrics, weren't. That is technically plagiarism and I don't care how much you want to suck Bob Dylan's cock, that is wrong.
@Sshelly34213 YES YES, I KNOW. Jeez louis relax, i meant it is a original album in the sense that original means creative, you know, fleet foxes is original, thats what i meant, i know they didnt make this. I have this song on my page, check it out.
@TheMasterOfSounds I'm perfectly relaxed, you're the one yelling. Can't we just agree to disagree? I dislike Bob Dylan as an artist, but I also dislike his folk covers and prefer original takes on traditional material. It has to do with likes and dislikes. You like something that I don't, now can we call it a day? I'm not looking to make any enemies here on youtube. We'd probably get along just fan if we met in real life.
@Sshelly34213 you may not like his music, and i accept that, but calling him uncreative is just wrong, he may have done his take on traditional songs, but he did them in his own way, and as for his words, they are his, pure and simple, no need to use such obscenities as you did to get your point across, by the way, haha
@jdoomkidr It's my opinion, take it or leave it. You have no right to say what I think isn't valid.
What do obscenities have to do with anything? I never said obscenities made a song creative. I'm listening to traditional folk music...clearly I couldn't care less about obscenities. What I care about is a creative arrangement of an already created song. I don't believe Bob Dylan ever did that with his arrangements. It's an opinion, can't we just agree to disagree?
@Sshelly34213 i understand it's your opinion, and i accept that 100%, but calling him uncreative isn't the way to go about expressing your opinion, and i have no care for obscenities either, but i was referring to your line, and i quote, "...I don't care how much you want to suck Bob Dylan's cock, that is wrong." no need, really.
@jdoomkidr Yes it is, it's my opinion that he's not very creative in his folk arrangements. There's nothing wrong with that, you just like Bob Dylan a lot.
It was a joke, total need. Since when is anything above humor? If I hadn't said the word cock you probably wouldn't be taking it so hard.
@Sshelly34213 Get a grip. Many of the best versions of songs from the pre-copyright days were played by someone who didn't write the original arrangement. At times the music scene has been a melting pot where anyone would play whatever the hell they liked, and amazing things happened as old ideas were performed in new ways. See Robert Jordan's Hellhound On My Trail for a perfect example.
@morganstev When have I not had a "grip,?" I'm simply sharing a valid opinion, which you can't seem to accept. Why are you so persistent in trying to impose your opinion? I disagree with you, get over it. It happens.
@Sshelly34213 who are the classis balladeers pete seeger ,woody ,leadbelly, they all covered earlier songs
Dylan copped shit from "classic" folkies for daring to write his own songs ,,,yeah he did borrow bits and pieces in the early and latter periods but his stuff in the mid sixties to early 80's was incredibly original and groundbreaking,
@Sshelly34213 What you've just said is one of the most insanely idiotic things I have ever heard. At no point in your rambling, incoherent response were you even close to anything that could be considered a rational thought. Everyone in this room is now dumber for having listened to it. I award you no points, and may God have mercy on your soul.
amazing lyrics I'm christian and i love how a lot of Fleet Foxes lyrics refer to god and expecially how they covered this song I'd be a soulful experience to meet these guys aswell as a musical experience i can only dream meeting these guys would be amazing
