  • All diesels r very good for the envirment and a diesel truck tuned right can get up to 30mpg which is very good for a truck

  • @nitro1385 No vehicle is "good for the environment" but diesels are alot better than most gas driven vehicles. They are by far the most efficient popular internal combustion engine untill some tuner gets ahold of them and tunes them to high hell so half the fuel is blown out the back end in black smoke, sure its badass but its not efficient.

Do the same thing up to a prius, you would live to take more breaths. You can't really sit there and tell people that it is cleaner when it is physically visible that it isn't.

    P.S. I own a diesel pickup just so you know this isn't a biased comment. I will avoid gasoline powered vehicles as much as possible.

  • @farmboy56 I hope you know that the prius electric motor doesn't kick in until a certain mph, so it's still a gas if you "sucked in the tailpipe" which would be the same as doing it with a normal gas engine. It's still a gas engine, thus it's more unhealthy than a diesel engine. Maybe you should think before typing an ignorant and moronic comment.

  • @RangerFishingBoats NO it isn't. It's the byproduct of incomplete combustion of diesel fuel. It has nothing to do with the cylinder walls. If that much carbon just came off the cylinder walls than he also wouldn't have any piston rings or compression. Pistons do tend to slide up and down quite a bit in a block after all. :D

  • for 1151hp and only one charger....it better have alot of NOS to make that power cause a single turbo to make that much power just doesn't happen. The highest HP duramax to date is Dmitri Millards truck that put down 1702hp with twin turbo's and a bunch of NOS.

  • @TheLuke2reeve Haha LMFAO....are you fuckin serious? Nitrous on a diesel can add as much as 200+ HP if there is enough fuel to burn it. Just do a search on it on the web and see for yourself. Using NOS on a diesel is like adding a turbo. You gain huge HP on a diesel by using it. I'm not tryin to be an ass, but it's not just for gasoline vehicles. I personally have used it. There are bunch of diesel kits out there for diesels...NOS, Nitrous Express(NX), bullydog, ZEX, and more.

  • @TheLuke2reeve luke, When makin huge HP gains on a diesel you have to have the extra fuel. Nitrous....like i said, is just like adding a second turbo. Cause it adds more oxygen molecules into the engine that gets forced into the cylinders. You put the nozzles right into the intake elbow or intercooler pipe right before the intake manifold. Depending how much fuel the engine is getting depends on how big of a nozzle to use. Lots of extra unburnt fuel means lots of NOS you can put to it.

  • @TheLuke2reeve Luke, when using NOS on a diesel you gotta use a dry kit meaning that you just inject the NOS instead of mixing it with the fuel when it gets injected into the intake manifold. Don't use a wet kit like which is used on a gas engine.

  • @TheLuke2reeve no worries dude. I tried to explain it the best i could, but do a search on it if you get a chance....just type "nitrous on a diese" and click on search. I'm sure there will be a site that could explain it better. But a pickup with big injectors, race programmin, and a good fuel system will make tons of extra HP on a two stage nitrous system. I've got a '04 6L powerstroke with bigger injectors and custom fuel system that smokes really good and NOS works great with it.

  • @carlson2469 you need to check your shit buddy, the transmission in this truck alone (and many other modded trucks), whether its suncoast or ATS, is rated for 2000+ FPT. Probably what this truck is putting out. 1100 HP? Seen it many other times from a dmax. Nothing too special - just need some knowledge and a fat bank account.

  • For diesels you have the following formula:

    Power (kW) = Torque (Nm) x rpm / 9549

  • besides there is a different calculation for gasoline than diesel. diesel has too many different results for turbos, timing and fuel systems

  • black usually is too much fuel, some people call that rich, or running rich. blue smoke is generally oil buring and that could be from many different reasons and things depending on the engine.

    white smoke is usually coolant and if nothing is wrong just condensation or hot air on a cold day which is usual in most cars.

    grey smoke.. i dunno, sounds bad to me.

  • the black smoke it this case is fuel, it's called over-fueling. it's better to run rich than lean, if you run lean at the power claimed( i'm skeptical for a duramax) the valve would overheat and melt or worse.

But you can go to just about any internet search engine and type in "horsepower calculation" and you'll get all the same results. That's basic, since horsepower isn't a rotational force rather a power output or a product of energy spent. Torque is rotational on the other hand. Hope this helps...

  • At any given RPM you can figure your HP even at idle. It's just a physics formula. It will work for the whole range. This is exactly how a Dyno works. HP=Watts think of HP more like energy but don't go to deep. LOL . There are a lot of websites that'll explain it better. I can't fit it here otherwise I would explain it in simpler terms. Later...

  • sorry but that cant be 100% true... my buddy put down 404hp@3200rpm and 987 ft/lbs@1800... in order for that calculation to be right his horsepower would have had to been around 338...

  • it does but i believe there is soo much smoke that it can all escape through the tube

  • Their so much pressure from the exhaust gasses they force their way out of tiny gaps in the fitings of the tube and stack.

  • Don't worry the tube is for that, but the motor is probably making so much exhaust pressure, that the tube doesn't hold it all.

  • yes its ike a vaccum that pulls out the smoke but unfortunatly theese are your  run of the mill repair shop machines. they handle cars trucks no problem but when u pair it up with a 1000 hp ungodly beast made by the devil like this truck (if u can stil call it that lol) has way to high of an exhaust volume for the vacuum to tranfer efectivly
