I remember this one from the late '90s! It's because of this song that I've always thought of that elephant puppet as "Homer", no matter what different roles they've used it for in the years since then.

Same here. I also think of this song every time I hear the name Homer (even when it's used in reference to Homer Simpson or the author of The Odessy). As a kid, I loved elephants, so this was one of my favourites.
