@mistaevanson The sensor is suppose to be zip tied up out of the way somewhere and with my AEM kit it came with a plug you put inside the vacuum line to close it off.
i have an rx8 2004. i fyou know about rx8s can u message me because i am going to start taking it to the raceway in about two months. what should i do to the car
@edoloman24 From my research on mod chips our car computer would just recompensate for the changes pretty much making the chip a waste of money. I could be wrong though. A great site to learn everything you need to know about ur car is rx8 dot com website
i like ultra light flywheel by competition clutch, CF driveshaft, injen CAI, JIC exhaust system with high flow cat, port the motor, and tune the ecu possibly with the COBB access port
@360nos AEM dude. mazdaspeed parts are expensive as FUCK and they wont be as good as an AEM. if you were comparing MS to K&N probably mazdaspeed, but AEM all the way
Ya thats prob the cheapest you'll find it. I really like it I was laughin so hard when I started it up the first time wasn't expecting it to sound that loud. Haven't had it on long enough to really tell a difference n mpg. I can tell a better and smoother acceleration though.
@makeadifference yea it is a drop in hp because an rx8 stock comes with a cold air intake made especially for the car...the only other intake that could really make a difference is the mazdaspeed but thats only about a 5hp different
At first I was lookin on ebay but thought I could find them cheaper. So I just googled it don't remember the exact website. I believe I paid $367. I looked several times everywhere and couldn't get any cheaper than that for my car.
All aftermarket intake only give you 1-2 hp... and a lot more noise, you'll be better off just dropping in a KNN air filter.

If anyone is thinking about buying a CAI for an 8 go buy RB CAI w\ the ram air. Best, and most noticeable gain out there.

hey did u have to delete any vacuum line or hoses or did everything go back on the new intake
jonoranks 10 months ago
@jonoranks There was one, a small hose you have to plug off. Other than that theres a sensor you leave unplugged that use to go to the OEM airbox.

Wow looking at those Hose clamp bands sticking out at you like a hungry predator lying wait , now thats scary I almost couldnt watch.

Wish my car still sounded like that, dealership put new motor in and screwed everything up. Now they refuse to fix anything.

when you put a cai on you don't have to tell your insurance or do anything like that do you? thanks for any help
mountainboundwbd 1 year ago
I don't think so I've never heard of having to tell insurance about any mods you make to your vehicle unless you change the color of the whole car.

is it better to buy an CAI from the dealer or AEM?

Oh I see, ya the place I'm looking at sell for $367 total with shipping. So I'm guessing that's a good price.
Anyway how do you like it?
Anything with MPG gain at all?
or just minor improvements besides the sound
I was reading on the forums that it was controversial that it may drop some HP instead of gain.
But I really like the sound of that

I was thinking about getting this CAI
Sounds really nice!! kudos!
Two questions: from where did you buy the CAI, and how much was it?
I'm just comparing prices and whatnot.
Thanks in advanced, and I'm very envious :)
