  • is that turbo flutter???? mine mide that noise when the dump valve blew. a standard vtec dohc is a lot faster than a standard one of these. but my wrx eats em both off the road

  • just got my glanza but not sure what to get...BOV...dump valve or wastegate... wantin the famous whoosh sound like this 1 but i heard it can fuck up your turbo ???

  • @utubelad100 the trick is to get a dumpvalve or wastegate that also increases or supports the turbo and airflow, the ones that can fuck the turbo up are the ones that use all of the airflow for sound rather than backpressure for the valves and pistons to work properly. write back on your glanza mate and if you post any vids because im really thinking of getting a Glanza V soon. thanks tom.

  • lol i gt a glanza and im 17 my insurance is 1800 for year but its registered as a non turbo also runs at 1.6 bar and its 215bhp on cos its gt wozner piston kit

  • sorry mr watters but i had a 260hp starlet td04 turbo etc running without a bov for a year then sold it and new owner didnt change nuthing. never a single problem. ive never heard of any turbo car having a problem just cus they aint got a bov? but seriously hahahaha at a 1.6sohc vtec beating a 4efte..type r ep3 2.0litre probz beat a stock glanza or gt i admit, but very very easy to get the starlet on par with it and faster.

Iv just bought a Glanza V...Picking up this Sunday :) Its got a fair list of shizzle on it including Tein suspension, turbo timer, snooper laser gadget, gauges, leads, blitz nur spec s exhaust & dump valve, how do I get the chatter noise uv got? My jap import tuner m8 said only cars running high bhp like over 300 are likely to make that noise... How do you get it? cheers Bud! Graham

  • about the earlier comment on damaging the turbo, ive never seen it be proved that there is enough back pressure to do this. there is the myth that the pressure thrust back onto the compressor wheel can shatter spindle shafts on some ceramic turbos but.... do they fit recirc bovs as standard to relieve pressure on the wheel or to simply stop the noise (keep in with noise regs)? hmmmmmmm.

    whatever..... that glanza sounds as bad as fook anyway... very tidy example mate hat of to ya.....

  • they are quick, but there not all what alot of people make them out to be.. There still only a 1.3 with a turbo.. Friend of mine has two. a GT advanced and a Glanza Limited. Type R civic Just Destroys them both.. even a 1.6 Sohc Vtec Civic would win on the run

  • @eustace676 u should rethink. are u one of these fellas that is in front of a lad and he cant pass u cos there is too much traffic?? then u say u blew him off the road? i had a 180 brake glanza, and a standard 160 brake vti civic. the civic was a faster car standard. thats a fact man. 133 brake vs 160? and 180 if its a type r? fuck sake u dont no what your talking about, and as for 350 brake, ya they are but not reliable in the slightest. 

  • @jm357m race a civic up a hill see what wins then lol. Cant be wasting my time lads vtec is clearly the best engine and all hondas wipe the floor with all glanzas always. Ive had hondas in the past and they go ok and i would have another one but vtec is over rated compared to boost be it on a 1.3 or a 2.5

  • At 17 I doubt you would get insurance. 18 You could insure alot more but it's not cheap, expect around the 2-3 grand mark for something half descent.

    If your interested; first insurance make sure your building no claims, if your intending to get your own policy try places like bell that do 10 month policies resulting in a full years no claims. free ICE cover too.

  • It's an option to go for the glanza s, basically the v without a turbo. It's not quite the same, according to a few google searches the s is 87 or something bhp stock apposed to the 140-ish from the v.

    If you were to buy the s and upgrade it with turbo and so on, you could be looking at alot more on insurance or not even find insurance at a younger age. An option is to not declare in as a mod to your insurers but they will most likely not pay out if you end up claiming.

  • my mate has a glanza v and hes 19 with 2 years no claims and his insurance is 600 full comp, he was saying that there all registerd as 1.3 non turbos somthing to do with importing it it comes on the book as a flat 1.3 so there realy cheap to insure

  • Most cars come with recirculating dump valves, not wastegates..

  • Yeah there actually called waste gates when standard. You try go to toyota and ask for a dumpvalve.

    A wastegate opens at a set pressure to stop the turbo 'over-boosting' by releasing excess exhaust gases away from the turbo.

    A dump valve releases boost (air) from the intake system when the throttle is released...

  • lol.....man i feel sorry for u UK fellas, u have to drive granny cars because of da hefty insurance fees.....in nz its all good. u can buy any turbo car and expect to pay around 500 pounds a year for full insurance cover :) peace.....drive safe!!!!!

  • Starlet GT's are alot easier to get insured on than Glanza V's..but it's still a crazy amount.

    I'd personally get a Daihatsu GT-ti (1.0 litre turbo 100 BHP) then move onto a Starlet at like 21. :D

  • how the hell can closing the dv off and just leaving the airfilter not cause damage to the turbo? think about how fast the turbine is spinning then suddenly.. BOOF air commin back atcha!ur rapidly slowing it down, chopping at the air which gives that noise, that has serious impacts on the bearings/blades and seals! dont run with no way of the air escaping ur just costing ur self money.

  • the hks ssqv makes this noise without having to do anything else to the car. Chatters more if u lift off before high revs too.. if high revs u get the normal *hiss* like regular bov's but if u change gear mid boost u get the chatter.. sounds like a rally car hehe.. lil birds under the bonnet :)

  • take your efi pipe off completely,mesh your inlet,then you will have more response and mental chatter,try it,trust me you WILL love it...my hybrid gt had had mesh on for ages,i drove it earlier and its MENTAL
