I'm an educator, and I make $17,000 a year. I also spend my own money on materials/supplies. The summers are used working a second job so I can make ends meet. I do this because I actually care about the education of our children, not because of the security or because of the hundred thousand dollars you seem to think I'm making. (by the way, teaching is a lot more than talking)
@bburney06 God bless you! You embody the spirit of what teachers should be, willing to give all and more, for your students. Sadly that isn't the truth for some of your profession. Now as to your income, your 17,000$ a year salary is very low. In my state a starting teacher will get 35,000$ + bonuses + benefits + about 5 months off. That's without your masters. You have 5 years to get it. You get a 5,000$ instant pay increase for that year and every year prior you worked without it.
