This sounds middy compared to the tweak fuzz...more crunchy. I think the tweakfuzz sounds actually more modern with a better variety of tones. This pedal almost sounds more seventies to me then the tweak fuzz, which is funny since the tweak fuzz is a fuzz pedal. The harmonics in the tweakfuzz sound a little more rich too.
is this good for megadeth, metallica sounds im guessing no if it can can it do it easy not having ot put all gain into it bc i want something thats jsut for heavy, thrash metal
nice pedal! im looking to buy this pedal as a boost pedal so i can reach those extra gain tones on my t-rex bloody mary distortion pedal, as well as a nice pedal for blues and classic rock tones. would this be a good choice or have you any recomendations,as an alternative?
@MeldrethBurwoods Why spend all that money just for use as gain booster? Just get an LPB-1 or similar, to push your TREX. I can see spending good money on a full functioned boutique or vintage distortion pedal, but just a simple volume boost...nah.
do any pedal reviews ever play anythin execpt the same rock tones and blues riffs? what about people lookin for a metal tone???? playin these chords gives u no idea what it will sound like actully playin metal on it!!
A POD is a good way of getting a clean sound on recordings without spending huge amounts of money. For getting a sound you really love, you'll need to combine it with something else
@MrTheafterschoolshow The 100$ pod UX-1 emulates more amps and effects than lots of rack effects that cost ten times as much. It does them just as well or better because my laptop is the processor. Dual guitar in, mic in, dual out. It certainly doesn't make my Marshall sound thin, and it fattens and warms the sound of my Crate. I can record with it.------------ How is this growly overdrive pedal a substitute?
@SqueegeTech This pedal won't crash or hang during a gig like a laptop might? If you just sit in your room recording stuff for youtube a laptop is fine, but if you gig you need to take at least 2 laptops in case one fails...and if you're one of several bands playing that night the extra hassle of setting up your laptop gear could cause setup delays. Then, there's the hassle of switching between effects live...
It's a totally different circuit. The Rumble switch is different too. They each break up entirely differently and the TF gets blatty like any good fuzz. The Lava Box is just "ampy" and touch sensitive.
All right! Seymour Duncan stepping up to the plate. Lots of grit and grumble which makes it more of a OD pedal than a Distortion. Great sweet spot at the end of the vid Andy.
Cool pedal

@KingBison: if you wanna play metal, check out some tests of some pedals, that are designed for playing metal (the t-rex bloody mary for example)^^
You should hear, that pedals like the lava box are not metal pedals^^
Biokampfstoff 2 years ago
exactly, thats why alot of people hate on the twin tube mayhem.. its not a MODERN metal pedal... its designed for classic metal tones
TodayAt420 2 years ago
@KingBison This pedal isn't meant for metal.

@MrTheafterschoolshow 'transparent' is a bad word regarding a guitar pedal now?!?
Olm9 1 year ago
@Olm9 I think its more that a lot of us want some real thick malty dist tones too, and the pedals that do that arent talked about much!
Danthehorse 1 year ago
@MrTheafterschoolshow I think your regurgitating what other people have said, transparent is hardly the word to use :S
