  • Great tune & great times....if you don't like this, you musn't have a soul !!!

  • Music just flows out of this man. Brian you are a Legend.

  • This song 'moves my soul' everytime I hear it.

  • I like so much all the songs of Brian Cadd and I wish I could see and hear his voice

  • Sounds country and western

  • I remember seeing him in Planet of the Apes....

  • my parents wedding song :)

  • Does anyone know who the ladies singing backup vocals are??

  • @Tooey62 they would be the part of the bootleg family

  • @andrew34430 Thanks Andrew, I thought that might be the case, but wasn't sure. God I love that song!!!!!

  • Yes we can all relate to this song however how many can let go of certain love in our life

  • WOW classic Brian Cadd...soul plucking lyrics with this Australian anthem...yeah his face is well animated at certain points of the song, no doubt recounting on lost love...what a legend? I love it when he sings of 'dreams by phone' and 'you should know before you she did the same to me' + check out the babes in the electric blue jumpsuits :-) where are they now? Also I love the man moment on 2:35 where the guitarist gives the bass player a side look glance :-) bring back the CADD!!!

  • @PoeticPussyPower Always liked the blonde chick on tv singing the shirp shirp song.Takes me back to the mid seventies.

  • I wish I could snap freeze this 4:21 and have it in a room that I could walk into whenever I wanted to. Makes me cry everytime I hear it..... Wish I could have known Brian Cadd back then; watching the expressions on his face at certain points in the video when he sings about the "dreams by phone" and "you should know that before you she did the same to me". Just f.....n magic!!!!!!

  • What a great blast from the past - one of my favourite songs from the era. His voice is such an iconic part of the Australian soundscape of the early to mid seventies. It is a voice like no other. Great clip still pretty intact. thanks for sharing it.

  • Very Americanised, he reminds me of someone

  • Here - right here is where Aussie music came of age; and, whilst I ain't no Aussie, this brings me to tears, even after all these years...

  • @scanlanmassive Yeah, me too.

  • Here - right here is where Aussie music came of age; and, whilst I ain't no Aussie, this brings me to tears, even after all these years...

  • Some of his best work with the bootleg family

  • One of the best 4.21 you will spend on YouTube!

  • Clothes,or lack of them, body parts everywhere projecting the pole dancer image, in your face attitude, inane words and total discordance (without the help of the auto tune) basically sums up today's mainstream music.Musicians, songwriters they aren't.

  • brian cadd..awesome..the centre backup singer beautiful hey ..fn great aussie music

  • @stevedarcysmith She certainly was....wow that typical classic 70's look, the hair & makeup...it would be interesting to see her today.

  • Brian had some great songs - sure miss those days

  • I love the moment the bass and the lead guitarist have at 2:35 lol

  • Amongst the best of the Australian singers, as was Russell Morris. I was sweet sixteen when this song hit, and this takes me back to the beaut years, an innocent generation and when music was music. Thanks for posting. My heart swoons and my hair stands on end. A classic clip.

  • @intotalawe I totally agree.....those were the great days & miss them like hell. Todays music, most of it anyway? Garbage.....they sure don't write them like this anymore. Now, my kids think this music is garbage....how the tides turn :)

  • Brian Cadd is the sound of the 70's. No nonsense just wonderful.

  • good words to this song

  • Sad but true.

  • Just listen to the song fleabrains...no one is interested in your shithead racism or comparisons with modern artists etc etc...Go change yr nappies kiddies and then twitter yr facile opinion to someone who gives a fat flying fuck...

  • @aussiebloke62

Gee. Seems like your buttons get pushed easy. Less a criticism and more an observation. Hope you live well.

  • loved this song when it first came out and still love it

  • How true is the lyric. If it hurts to say her name then let go. Aint it the truth.

  • @IanGorton That is so true.

  • Is he jewish? seems all the good song wroiters are jewish...britny (sic)...baccarah...simon...there must be others... why the sound of silence? just asking not critising...

  • @mastertusk I don't think he is

  • Hey does any body else feel like they dont fit in this new world when they listen to this old Aussie stuff.....????

  • the difference about today and back in the day is that all this great stuff from back then meant someting unlike today where the big record companys are only intrested in the quick doller ..

    one word............ IDOL..............

BARGAIN BIN STUFF 6MONTHS AFTER RELEASE DATE .............

bring back the beautiy in music and shelf the shit there churning out today...........

  • well said. 100% agree. music today isn't music. every now and then a nice good song will come out but rarely these days

  • @carpetcle Yes, definitely!!!!!

  • Oh just gotta love it Then again it's Aussie good

  • 1973 International Hotel in Tullamarine (now called Zagames), underage, sitting at the back table sipping black russians. If that wasn't cool enough in itself at 15, Billy Thorpe was up at the front with the Aztecs.

No violence, just great times when you could go to a pub, have a table and seat and listen to Aussie's give the best of music to us.

  • @hellonewman1 I hear where you're coming from!

  • still love his music, this era with thorpey, russell morris, lobby lloyde, masters apprentices etc......opened the doors for what became the great aussie pub rock sound of chisel, angels, hunters etc......remember those guys from the late 60s/early 70s missed the juggernaut that was countdown and later the music video....

  • So sweet a caveman can do it (sorry I couldnt resist)

  • Have been a fan for decades! Am off to see Brian live along with Russell Morris in Launceston, Tassie on 21st June 09!!!! Tis been over 30 years since I last saw them both live so am counting down the days big time!!! Both are true legends of Aussie rock.

  • don't thinks he's not had a beard , in fact i'm pretty sure he was born with that beard

  • the blonde lady on the end has eyes for brain lucky man she is hot

  • AWSOME!

  • is that tony naylor on guitar?i bought a les paul off him.a really nice bloke!the hairs short now but he's still got the mo!

  • Anyone know who the backup singers are? Were they part of another group?

  • The backup band was the Bootleg Family I believe a group of studio musos who Brian got together with and had a few hit singles in there own right " The Shoop Shoop Song" and "Your Mama Don't Dance"

  • The Bootleg Family Band work with Brian for a while and they were studio musicians. The drummer was non other than Jeff Cox (Coxy)one of the all time greatest. I was fortunate to be his female roadie for a few months in Australia in the early 70's. Great times.

  • Great song by the great Brian Cadd but watch the video at about the 2.30 minute mark where Brian nearly forgets to sing and the guitar player in the back groung (Graham Gardener look a like Ex Goodies)just about aborts the whole thing...they must have been on a tight budget.....love it!

  • gees looks allright to me , Brian never missed his cue
