Good advice, though this shows why I would never buy a saber saw without a scrolling knob. His hands are the only thing keeping the saw aligned with the plywood. It's even worse in a confined space, like a pipe opening near a wall. It's too bad that so many otherwise well made saber saws lack this feature.

Thanks for the tutorial, but would I still use a jigsaw for thicker wood? Should I buy a longer blade? The wood in question is about 1 1/2 in thick.
