i still am going to upgrade mine tr railsounds in a little bit i have the model number you gave me for it i just upgraded the smoke unit in it you should see how much better 1225 berkshire smokes now

@grizzleybearz282004 really good job on your upgraded smoke unit...that's how it should smoke to begin with...wonder how the new stand alone PE engine will do with the whistle steam effect...my guess not much if they don't upgrade the smoke unit to a fan driven one

@Lafondue thanks and as afr as the new PE engines if lionel wants to spent the xtra $0.50 on a better heating element then ya it should work out pretty good

@grizzleybearz282004 they better be...but heck they already did not spend the extra $ for upgrading the tender to Railsound...or having TMCC....really don't see people flooding store to get the same engine with just the steam whistle added...and to top the price is basically the same as the set...

@oOWickedRulesOo no, that the original one from the set...the stand alone one with whistle effect will not be available before fall 2011

Can't use the Trainsound here in Australia though. The voltage can be "stepped down" for running etc but the Trainsounds system is triggered by the sine wave which is different in both countries like voltage. I've got no idea how to overcome it?

Anyway at least I can see it in action here (envious)

no it's an extended version of a figure 8. Don't think the crossing gate will fit on a standard figure 8.

I`ll give you guys a tip that have "smokers" You may already know, but you don`t have to buy that oil, you can use wd-40 or any light weight oil, such as sewing machine oil, or honing oil.

How muc smoke do you put? I put some in mine and it leaks through the bottom

so what? Its a train. Treat it like one. They get oily and dirty. All my steamers icluding the expensive ones are so filthy with greasy dirt, you can't touch them with out spending an hour washing your hands afterwords.

just swapped the shell with another tender Railsound equiped, it's not the trainsound one that Lionel was selling

that's a regular Railsound tender from another Lionel Jr.Berkshire..just swapped the shell.

The tender Lionel sell separately is equiped with Trainsound...the quality of trainsound is lower than Railsound

when you left it in neutral for too long that's what happen, since the puffing mechanism is not used

I do that but I put my enjine on full blast in neutral and blow into the smoke stack. Its cool check my vids
