Wow! I just found this video. I've been trying to learn this song for my wife and came across this. The song is beautiful on it's own, but you brought a whole new dimension to it's depth. Thank you.

John - you left us way too early. If only you would have flipped that fuel switch. If only you would have checked your fuel. But, we don't live in the garden of eden anymore; it's not a perfect world. Little mistakes can lead to big tragedies.

This song is so beautiful. It brings me to tears every time I hear it. I chose this song for my daughters memorial service. I miss her so much, life is so hard sometimes. She was my little pumpkin, she is my pumpkin but I can't hug her or hold her. She bought me this CD for Christmas just before she died. I love John Denver and his music too, Charlene daddy misses you so much.

I had lost my little brother who is the best friend Id ever had a couple of years ago. We used to comfort each other before that we keep on holding with life and be brave and have courage to face the day and wont shed tears when one of us will die. I thought I will make thru so easily knowing that i have to keep this promised to my dear little brother but when he passed away, there is no greater pain and hurt that I felt in my heart to see my little bro dies. I really miss him so much...

After I found my friend had taken his own life, this song was there, haunting me. That was over 20 years ago- I met my next lover a month or so later. I heard she died last May. This brings it all back.
It's a sad song, but a good song and sometimes we all feel like a sad song.
I'm so sorry for your losses. We're on the same page my friend. I've gone through two suicides and my best friend passed from cancer. Know that your not alone and I'll never forget your posts. Keep thoses memories close and they will always be close to us.
John took me by storm in the early '70's. Took me soaring with the eagles, sailing with Calypso and much more. We truly lost a friend and a conveyor of Nature's song.
My grandpa recently died and now my grandma is all alone in this nursing home and everytime I hear this I think of her just sitting there all by herself. Everytime I talk to her she says she mostly just sits around and cries. This song breaks my heart almost as much as that does.

Visit my grandfather's grave? I wish I could, unfortunately he is buried near his last home in Florida and I live in NC. But my grandma is still alive and I visit her as much as I can and then we visit him together. It's nice.
@EmptyErica Please don't let her get so depressed. You have to find something to distract her (I know it isn't easy). Talk with her. Make her feel that you are there for her, even if you can only do it by phone. Try to motivate her in meeting people in the nursing home just for taking her mind off of the sad things she's been through...

I couldn't agree more... John's voice was an amazing "once in awhile" gift... his music is timeless, I grew up on him being a child of the 70's, brings back wonderful bittersweet memories... SO PURE... his voice and his guitar... I had the "privelege" to have seen him live the year before he was killed, also got to share that with my mother, who was also a huge JD fan like me, and sadly had lost her shortly thereafter... I cannot listen to his music without crying "still", as I am now. Miss him.
The hours I spent when I was young listening to John. His music took me soaring to the heights and then brought me back to earth with a melancholy ballad. He was unique and an amazing songster!!!

I came across this video a few days ago and i can't stop thinking about it. I grew up with johns music and this song makes me cry every time i hear it. I too can relate, cuz my mother died a little over a year ago. I know in my heart that she's in good hands with Jesus, still I miss her very much.
I look forword to being with Jesus and my mom sometime in the distant future.
