Rhythm, melody and harmony, this man's got them all. Some of the people on these modern day TV talent shows might think they've got something. But when you hear Dennis you realize there's no substitute for 'proper' talent...
basically, the other day a man swore to god that he was telling the truth (swear pon jah name) and that god may strike him down (or paralyse him as dennis says). when you check it so the man was lying.
You see, were living in an environment that you find a lot of wolves, a lot of informers, a lot of tale-bearers, you know, murderers, sorcerers, thieves, liars. And believe me, I never believed that in this time you would really find liars, but up to the other day [but just the other day], yesterday,[laugh]..True true [meaning- really] Up to the other day, I find a man [came across a man] a tell I a lie [telling me a lie] and a swear on Jah name, you know, sir [swearing on Gods name (cont)
(cont) its the truth] a swear on Jah name how much Jah Kill, cramp and paralyze him and so and so[kill, cramp and paralyze him is an expression used to blame God for your woes. Not to taken literal, simply saying youre in bad situation due to no fault of your own]. When you check it out, the man was lying
these interviews are priceless it is so invaluable because you get the facts and you also get an intimate look at the artists i love reggae music and feel that this music and jamaica is truly blessed thanks for all the memories and all the excellent artists
See how he is smiling almost as waiting for the interviewer to ask him to sing his recent hit. And then the finish with those yeahs like bringing you to earth after being in heaven while listening to him. My god, what a man!
This is an amazing Interview with the late GREAT! Dennis Brown. Can't believe that he sings my all time fav Nat king Cole Song. Dennis could sing anything. STUNNING! voice. A TRUE LEGEND. May he rest in eternal peace. RESPECT!!!
I feel such a great lose. When I see that beautiful smile and that wonderful voice I can't help but to feel great sadness but for real my buddy is gone. He still was always under-rated, but he still had a good run.
A beautiful voice, spirit, charm, smile and laugh. When I saw a picture of him with a big smile on his face as a young boy, i saw the start in him, and then when I heard his voice... noone compares. Such a great loss, but he will live on eternally through the music and memories he left behind. I wish I had the opportunity to see him live when he was alive. =(
Beautiful off-the-cuff version Nat King Cole's version of "Autumn Leaves." Nice vibrato. Even without a backing band his voice fills the air with good vibes and energy when he sings excerpts of "Wolves & Leopards" and "Money in My Pocket." Truly blessed!
natural raw talent to sing as if he were in a studio just off the cuff like that. The greatest ever. Marley was the mystic, but D Brown was definitley the singer man
they both can sing in their own way, had it been up to me, Dennis would be the crowned king... BUT, Bob was the one to put us on tha Map, so respects are due... bless.
Wow that's a little harsh...ya sayin' Bob Marley could not sing! Every one's entitled to their own opinion but that's way outta line Bob Marley could sing and brought reggae to the world...Dennis did have a better voice I must admit!
His Highness DENNIS BROWN was the prince of reggae.
theirs reggae vibes was not only a good sounds or songs, they sent to us a Message and it was: LOVE, PEACE and UNITY for to live all together in HARMONY.
True ting... Nobody sings acapella that flawlessly anymore. Most of today's singers strain and yell and shit themselves singing a verse. Dennis just had it like that. One of the Best for sure.
I am a reggae music fan of over 25 years,I never heard anyone else sing accapella and it move me as much as Dennis, such an amazing one off and a truly legendary soul.Rest in peace my brother, G-man.
I have to watch this often just to hear Dennis sing Autumn leaves. Big love Dennis the king!
