  • I couldn't help but sing along! I have a knack for adding a free-running bass line just by listening to the other parts....it shocked a few folks that work with me because they had no idea that I could get that low. Fantastic work ladies & gentlemen. If only I could join you....

  • this is a wonderful song and it was greatly sung !

  • WONDERFUL VOICES... but this maybe me one of the most disingenuous groups of young people ive seen it.... they don't mean it.... it would be better if they stopped all that pantomime.

  • @taurus51491 what???!!! how can you judge someone elses praise???? You aren't God. Only God knows whether or not they mean what they are singing about....Thats not your place. Leave it up to the man up above. And you children in this video keep praising God....regardless of what people may say or think.

  • Exquisite! Thanks for posting...

  • @irvineyay92 This particular version that we sing was recorded by Patrick Lundy (an alumnus of Howard University and the Howard Gospel Choir) along with his choir, the Ministers of Music. They are based out of the Washington, DC Metropolitan Area.

  • Is this college a black historical college?

  • @ThankyouJAZUS Yes...Howard University is an Historically Black College.

  • The musician playing the piano is amazing. This is the best version of this song I have heard to date.

  • @kappasonthebay That's some truth right there! I've played this song plenty of times on the keys and I'm enjoying this for sure.

  • absolutely love this song : )

  • Hello all in Howard

Thanks for serving the Lord. Truly our Lord continues to share his amazing love. Praise the Lord for his showers of blessings!!!!!!

  • This song is beautiful, This choir is bless, anointed. I thank God for making you guys an instrument of praise. I was really blessed listening to this ministeration.

  • I thank God for this choir. I have never been to Howard University, but I have heard about the choir. When I am down and discouraged, I listen to this song, and other videos that they have on this site. There is definitely an anointing on this ministry. I Love you guys!!! Stay Blessed.

  • @larry1275 Yes indeed there is.

  • Beautiful! And that man is making the piano sing!

  • I thank God for the ministry of this choir. They don't oversing this song. They don't under sing it either. There are no unnecessary theatrics or fancy choreography.

Their interpretation of this song is simply exceptional and anointed.

Choirs like this today are not common.

  • Does anyone know what that progression is from 3:12-3:15?

  • That man is playin that piano!

  • @thomassan17 Thanks for askin doc. It was a B major 9 chord to a Bb major 9 chord.

  • YungCoke!!! just a shout out! . I love this song too!!! Howard Gospel Choir, Be blessed! God bless you all!

  • I have chills all over my body!!! Being a bass, I so wish I could sing in a gospel choir.

  • My brutha, just because you're a bass doesn't mean you can't sing in a gospel choir. I have a bass section and we sing gospel, hymns, anthems, and spirituals. You just need to find a competent director who can teach a bass part instead of letting basses sing an octave under the tenors. Hope you find it, and sing to the glory of God, my brutha.

  • Our choir has a bass and tenor section.. You should be fine in any choir. They should embrace u!!

  • @newme720 I feel you totally. I am a baritone/bass too, and I soon realized there's not really a spot for us in a lot of gospel choirs. I used to try to sing tenor, but that didn't work. When I have my own choir, my basses will have a great time too, not being silenced most of the time and always singing an octave below tenor or 2 octaves below soprano lol... because basses are a beautiful add to of harmony. Take out the bass line from an arrangement like this and you've ruined it.

  • The lyric are:

Lord I hear of, showers of blessing,

Thou are scattering full and free

    Showers the thirty, souls refreshing

Let some drops now fall on me

    Even me Lord, even me,

Let some drops now fall on me.

  • I've watched all the videos of you all performing this song and this version by far is one of the best! The Control this ensemble has under the leadership of SUCH AN ANOINTED Man of God is AMAZING!! Great job Cliff and HGC! I play this video over and over and over and over and over....k u get it. God bless you

  • who's song is this?

  • Jumpoff6684, it eventually resolves to A flat major. The chorus plays around in D flat major but ends on a B flat major chord.

  • Can you please tell me how can I find this composition?

  • GIA publishes this arrangement. It begins with a solo part, then goes to the chorus, which Howards starts off with... It can be ordered online...GIA also host reading workshops, in various States...There you can get copies of the the sheet music along with sample CDs...Dr. James Abbington conducts the reading workshops in Chicago, which are FABULOUS!!

  • this song is really touching

  • i love this song we song this for the stella gospel awards the youth choirs tht were put togather in atlanta

  • What Key is this Song in?

  • i luv this song it it talks to me soul

  • Is this an original piece or does someone else sing it?

  • The song has been recorded by HGC alumnus Patrick Lundy and his choir the Ministers of Music.

  • i love this song..i always cry when i hear it...

  • Hey that the guy from Sunday's Best directing the choir?

  • Beautiful job...AMAZING blend!!!

  • My gospel choir at pghs in VA did this song after we heard you sing it and we loved singin it.

  • I usually watch and go to the next vid, but watching and listening to this choir has invoked the spirit of the Lord within me. This so reminds me of my college choir. We were a bunch of kids who was all jacked up and had issues people would not have believed and i see the same with this choir. I see the struggles in your faces, the hurt in your eyes, but I hear the praises from your lips and feel the deep reverence for God in your hearts and I have truly been blessed. Continue to keep God 1st

  • Thank you Jesus!!!

Even me!!! Lil ole, insignificant, undeserving me! Thank you Jesus!

  • the dissonance/resolution on 'Me" is so sweet! The subtle nuances that Howard uses and the well-blended unisons were amazing! Very worshipful.

  • This song grabbed my ear the first time I heard it. It is absolutely lush and beautiful. The voices and the accompaniment are wonderful. If there is a written arrangement of it, I would like to know about it so I can purchase it.

  • we are learning this at my church and this evening while singin this at rehearsal we WERE LAID OUT! this song is anointed!

  • You know, I listen to you all sing this everyday. It is such a blessing to my soul.

  • Thank you Jesus! I need this in my life right now!!!!! Whooo, Praise his name!!!!!

  • Beautiful! God bless you!!

  • I have seen on several different videos... references made to HGC Alums like Patrick Lundy and Stephen Hurd. Does anyone have a list of all the HGC Alumnus that are singers or writers?

  • Some of the HGC alumni include: Richard Smallwood, Twinkie Clark, Angela Winbush, Core Cotton (member of Sounds of Blackness), Patrick Lundy and Daniel Austin (member of the Kurt Carr Singers).

  • hal lay lu!

  • if there were a way for me to put this on repeat, i would. Such a blessing!

  • what are the words?

  • Lord I hear of showers of blessings,

Thou art scattering full and free

    Showers the thirsty souls refreshing

Let some drops now fall on me

Even me, even me, let some drops now fall on me

  • who wrote this song

  • This particular version of the song was recorded by HGC Alumnus Patrick Lundy and his choir, the Ministers of Music.

  • GIA Publications, Inc. recently published this arrangement by Michael Reid.

  • This is an old Hymn written by Ms. Lucy Campbell back in the early 1940's. Ms. Campbell was an African American Writer who wrote other hymns such as "Touch Me, Lord Jesus," made popular by the Angleic Gospel Singers. Late in life, she married her long-time friend Prof. Thomas A. Dorsey, one of the founders of Gospel Music.

  • Wow! Thank you, I didn't know that. I Love This Song

  • Very moving and beautiful. Our choir is going to sing this song and it will really help hearing it sung with so much emotion.

  • Beautiful...just beautiful!

  • I Love this arrangement, is there a way to get this on a cd by Howard?

  • While this is one of the more popular songs in our repertoire, we have not recorded it on an album. Patrick Lundy and his choir the Ministers of Music have recorded this particular arrangement of this song.

  • wow..thas all i can say!

  • that really is a wow

  • Now, correct me if I'm wrong, but I'm almost 100% sure that Michael Reid arranged this hymn. It was maybe first performed by Patrick Lundy. GIA Publications has recently published it. It was performed at the Hampton University Choir Directors' Organists' Guild Workshop in June 2008.
