This year I tried watching a few episodes of Power Rangers Samurai and got so bored because of how close it parallels Shinkenger, even down to specific shots. It's called an "adaptation" for a reason, take the source material and reintroduce the concept in a different manner.

American adaptations always try to make stuff seem "totally radical" with the music while making the story lighter and softer at the same time....just doesn't work for me....

That's the only reason that i don't like it.
The concept of the story they created for DK was really good, but it can compete with the original.

We're no longer in the age of Saturday morning kids blocks, thanks to cable TV, on demand and the internet. It would've made more sense if this aired on Cartoon Network or Nickelodeon.

But since the show was two episodes too long for the whole series to air on TV, they decided to stream the last two episodes on 4KidsTV.com
Yes it had low ratings, but none of CW4Kids' other shows were doing any better in terms of viewership.

I watched both Dragon Knight and Ryuki, and people don't give this nearly enough credit. This is a damn good dub (even though it ended kinda lamely), and the intro kicks so much ass.
Actually, believe it or not, this actually wasn't made by 4Kids. granted, some of the people from 4Kids worked on this, but for at least 95% of it, it was done by a different company.
the company that produced the english adaption of this was adness entertainment,4kids had nothing to do with this series other than the airing rights. but this was a good adaption however,alot better than saban's failed masked rider tv series which was a horrible bastarization of Kamen rider Black Rx.
@Ruldolphmaker Uh hate to burst your bubble, but that's not true. Kamen Rider is an entirely different series compared to Power Rangers that focuses on a solo fighter rather than a team. Not to mention Kamen Rider and Super Sentai (the Japanese version of Power Rangers) were both created by the same person, with Kamen Rider coming first by a four year difference. So technically Kamen Rider isn't a total rip-off.
Out of american toku shows, this the best one out of all! The rest of them are too campy, this one at least as a serious mature tune unlike power rangers

I think Toei should allow American Kamen Rider fans like Steve Wang to produce American Kamen Rider shows. It will spread and bring awareness to those not familiar with the franchise and help stray away from power rangers

Of course I do. Ryuki IMO is a clusterfuck cop-out and nothing more than Highlander w/ Kamen Riders for maximum merchandising. Aside from it, it is more like contrived KR drama which sucks when it comes to mainstream reception.
Dragon Knight is an adaptation (which is NOT Ryuki!) but is honest enough and it's a straightforward good vs evil story which is the true concept of KR. It's your opinion and you may disagree with me...
Kamen Rider, as a series, has been around longer than Super Sentai, so you cant say that its a rip-off if the franchise has been around longer than the "non rip-off"
if anything though, I cannot wait until Adness or the same company brings over another KR show. Hopefully Faiz as that show has a rabid fanbase that is faithful to its utter crap of a story. Great designs however and if they put as much effort on the off fighting CG like the early eps of DK and with consistency, they have done their job.
Or how about Double? BTW, Double was praised due to its excellent writing and it wasn't emo-driven like its predecessors and it also serves as a tribute to the whole Kamen Rider concept. Heck, Kamen Rider Skull was considered as a homage to Skull Man!
@JokerThe14 Double may have lacked in CG compared to Decade since the latter was an anniversary show, but the plot in decade honestly was nonexistent. It got by as the ultimate fanservice rider show, which is to be expected. Double as far as I have watched has terrific balance while retaining the obvious and adding to the mystery. Odd enough, many seeking the flashy stuff seemed to dislike W.
It's possible either way since the Double movie was directed by Koichi Sakamoto. In my view, having awesome fight scenes w/ awesome special effects is still a good idea to work on.
Anyway, long story short: Ryuki and DK are both good in their own way. In the end it all comes down to differences in opinion. There'll be people on one side who prefer Ryuki, there'll be people on another side who prefer DK, and there'll be people in the middle (like me) who like both.
Good thing on you said. Actually, I like both Ryuki and Dragon Knight but I found the former has a comparison w/ the Showa series and even Kuuga while Ryuki's plot is a contrived one. At least I knew the strengths and weaknesses of both shows.
@JokerThe14 defending Ryuki's plot is hilarious though as its a clusterfuck considering the movie also changed things. DK at least is honest enough, though its characters aren't as crazy as Heisei's favorite (though at times overrated) sociopath, which if you have noticed always come up to the argument on which show is better and holds no bearing as both shows have a different plot and hence cannot cater to a similar antagonist. Also the CG in early eps in DK is pure pwnage, until later eps.
Now Dragon Knight, so far i like it (apart from some details i dislike about it, like the names, some dialogue i find silly, etc.). Also, i think the characters from Ryuki weren't so bad (i prefer Takeshi Asakura the psycho murderer over the hacker guy JTC).
*Spoiler alert* Of course there are things from Ryuki i disliked, like the way Shinji dies in the end. I was hoping he'd lose to Knight or Odin. If you ask me, the movie ending should've been the series ending. It would've been cooler.
Wow, people are still with this whole Ryuki VS Dragon Knight thing? They're both good in their own way. I watched Ryuki and i liked it. I'm watching Dragon Knight and i like it. I prefer Ryuki, but Dragon Knight is great too.
I prefer Ryuki cos it brought something different. It showed that Riders aren't always gonna fight for justice and are gonna just fight for their own selfish wish to come true. It basically shows what a person is capable of doing for such a thing.

But to each their own since I grew up with Black and I always liked a solid good vs evil plot than overrated drama crap like Kiva and kabuto. If anything, DK actually extended the life of Ryuki as an 'alternate' story in another world' kind of ordeal.
@JetTheHawk93 well just to put it out there, since highlander is the measuring stick of that plot type being exclusive contest of people with similar abilities, ambivalent protagonist with tortured past, chaotic antagonist (lol kurrgan and asakura), there can only be one winner and for everyone else there is certain death and the victor gets a prize that is unexplained.
Okay, then let's figure out something right now. Ignore Ryuki and whatever it adds; Does this 2009 show hold up as a good show for the fans, as well as be an interesting Kamen Rider show in terms of the show, people?

@optimusprime23able Everyone thinks it's a rip off. Actually Kamen Rider and Power Rangers are really brother and sister. They both were created in Japan in the 70s and run side by side in Japan even in 2010. Saban created Masked Rider and it failed to the popularity of Power Rangers in 93.
So this is actually the 2nd American Kamen Rider series.
60% of the battle footage in both Kamen Rider and Power Rangers are Japanese footage.
almost ryuki is the only one with bug eyes, every one got visor. I wish KMR isn't made to be a kamen rider show but different instead.

I think Toei should allow American Kamen Rider fans like Steve Wang to produce American Kamen Rider shows. It will spread and bring awareness to those not familiar with the franchise and help stray away from power rangers

Of course I do. Ryuki IMO is a clusterfuck cop-out and nothing more than Highlander w/ Kamen Riders for maximum merchandising. Aside from it, it is more like contrived KR drama which sucks when it comes to mainstream reception.
Dragon Knight is an adaptation (which is NOT Ryuki!) but is honest enough and it's a straightforward good vs evil story which is the true concept of KR. It's your opinion and you may disagree with me...
But your BIAS is showing.

if anything though, I cannot wait until Adness or the same company brings over another KR show. Hopefully Faiz as that show has a rabid fanbase that is faithful to its utter crap of a story. Great designs however and if they put as much effort on the off fighting CG like the early eps of DK and with consistency, they have done their job.

Or how about Double? BTW, Double was praised due to its excellent writing and it wasn't emo-driven like its predecessors and it also serves as a tribute to the whole Kamen Rider concept. Heck, Kamen Rider Skull was considered as a homage to Skull Man!
Also, Double has the most manliest KR designs.

@JokerThe14 Double may have lacked in CG compared to Decade since the latter was an anniversary show, but the plot in decade honestly was nonexistent. It got by as the ultimate fanservice rider show, which is to be expected. Double as far as I have watched has terrific balance while retaining the obvious and adding to the mystery. Odd enough, many seeking the flashy stuff seemed to dislike W.

It's possible either way since the Double movie was directed by Koichi Sakamoto. In my view, having awesome fight scenes w/ awesome special effects is still a good idea to work on.

Anyway, long story short: Ryuki and DK are both good in their own way. In the end it all comes down to differences in opinion. There'll be people on one side who prefer Ryuki, there'll be people on another side who prefer DK, and there'll be people in the middle (like me) who like both.

Good thing on you said. Actually, I like both Ryuki and Dragon Knight but I found the former has a comparison w/ the Showa series and even Kuuga while Ryuki's plot is a contrived one. At least I knew the strengths and weaknesses of both shows.

@JokerThe14 defending Ryuki's plot is hilarious though as its a clusterfuck considering the movie also changed things. DK at least is honest enough, though its characters aren't as crazy as Heisei's favorite (though at times overrated) sociopath, which if you have noticed always come up to the argument on which show is better and holds no bearing as both shows have a different plot and hence cannot cater to a similar antagonist. Also the CG in early eps in DK is pure pwnage, until later eps.

Now Dragon Knight, so far i like it (apart from some details i dislike about it, like the names, some dialogue i find silly, etc.). Also, i think the characters from Ryuki weren't so bad (i prefer Takeshi Asakura the psycho murderer over the hacker guy JTC).
*Spoiler alert* Of course there are things from Ryuki i disliked, like the way Shinji dies in the end. I was hoping he'd lose to Knight or Odin. If you ask me, the movie ending should've been the series ending. It would've been cooler.

Wow, people are still with this whole Ryuki VS Dragon Knight thing? They're both good in their own way. I watched Ryuki and i liked it. I'm watching Dragon Knight and i like it. I prefer Ryuki, but Dragon Knight is great too.
I prefer Ryuki cos it brought something different. It showed that Riders aren't always gonna fight for justice and are gonna just fight for their own selfish wish to come true. It basically shows what a person is capable of doing for such a thing.

@JetTheHawk93 which IMO the Ryuki plot is a cop-out and nothing more than highlander with KR for maximum merchandising. Especially if you've seen Rider series BEFORE it with better story, AGITO . But to each their own since I grew up with Black and I always liked a solid good vs evil plot than overrated drama crap like Kiva and kabuto. If anything, DK actually extended the life of Ryuki as an 'alternate' story in another world' kind of ordeal.

Fact: Dragon Knight and Ryuki both have different stories that both go in different directions so comparing the two is stupid. If you want Americans watch the original instead, it will turn off its target demographic since Ryuki is pretty much Highlander. Kamen Rider is all about JUSTICE, not selfishness.
You can say Ryuki is better and it's your opinion. But your BIAS is showing.

@optimusprime23able Everyone thinks it's a rip off. Actually Kamen Rider and Power Rangers are really brother and sister. They both were created in Japan in the 70s and run side by side in Japan even in 2010. Saban created Masked Rider and it failed to the popularity of Power Rangers in 93.
So this is actually the 2nd American Kamen Rider series.
60% of the battle footage in both Kamen Rider and Power Rangers are Japanese footage.
