You chose a really interesting game to do a playthrough of. I've never played this game, but it looks awesome.
I'm not sure which one to get: the GameCube version or the Wii NPC version. I have two sets of Bongos (I got great deals on both), and the GameCube version is very cheap. On the other hand, the NPC version supposedly has new levels, modes, etc.
There's an incredible physical satisfaction in beating on the drums that I just can't imagine you'd get with the NPC version. The extra content isn't going to make or break the game for you, but the control scheme will change the feel of the game on a very basic level.
That's my two cents, anyway. I need to go back to this game and finish it, I got through 16 levels, I think...

you should, I've got it for the gamecube with bongos and stuff, if you're into drumming and DK, this is an awesome game.

It's really up to you. I chose this one to show you how good it is even with the Bongos.
But if you want more content, then you wanna get the Wii version.
