Kind of a cool idea taking the beard off in stages and documenting the various beard/mustache looks along the way. Overall, I think the beardless look works well on you. You've got a good chin, and the lack of one is often what guys grow beards to cover up.
BTW, what are "regulation sideburns"? Are you in the military? And are sideburns not supposed to be below mid-ear?
Maybe that's why I like the mutton chop look, both beard and chin in one.
I'm an Officer Cadet in MSUOTC, and I finish my years leave in october, so yes, I'm in the military, but as close to a civvie as you can get (non-deployable, occasionally unpaid, training only). Yes, Side burns are to the mid ear, or higher.
"You have to reach into your pocket instead of stroking your beard"? LOL. Mind boggles :-) You look SO much better smooth. Tho I don't "do" hairy unless really neat.
When I started growing it, I grew it out as a soul patch, then goatee, then the full beard, looking at my old video's is quite interesting to see the progress. I shaved it off in reverse (ish, I didn't try the shaved mustache full beard look).
It's my face, but the officer training corps. decide what facial hair I can have :D
Nice work! LoL Its always rough shaving the beard off at its full length. When I do it, I use clippers to take it down to stubble, then use a blade. Then its like shaving with a three or four day growth. Either way, after leaving the beard for a long time, shaving every day will be an irritant. mine comes off next week but I'm not doing a video lol.
I've never had to have off a full beard before, but I didn't find too many issues using the safety razor once I gave up on the clippers. Much easier to clean than a modern fixed razor, so clogging is less of an issue.
If I removed the beard without telling people, I thought that they'd assume I was running mirrors of my old videos.
The Beard was indeed fun, but, no longer. Now a new and brighter future. and on the upside, me in a uniform. I intended to keep the 'tache, but as you say, it's got it's own charms..... and I don't wanna deal with that returning both to my OTC unit, and moving back into University Dorms.

@AnnikaGarratt
And that's partly why I wouldn't have been able to pull it off, no way am I in mercury's leauge of awesome to get away with the moustache he did.
TheBoyFromNorfolk 6 months ago
@TheBoyFromNorfolk yeah nobody can do that! :D

Well, it's not bad... but I still don't think that I can take a beardless man seriously on such matters as pounding sinew, for example.

Alas, I feared such a situation. Already people IRL have remarked how much more geeky and less parinoid survivalist I look.
I recommend, Native Survival and Wilderness Outfitters, both of whom have decent, trustworthy beards.

Personaly I like beardless. Some hair yes but not Grizzly Adams.

You should try a soul patch. Would give you something to fiddle with....
I'm a hair freak so I will always vote for keeping a beard on but it's your face. You have to see yourself in the mirror every day. :-)
