We are labeling the non-GMO products in the food co-op where I work....I do the research. Sure do get a lot of BS back from the fake "natural" food companies. LABEL GMOS!
So basically, oh no, science in my food? Ugh. The problem with genetic engineering is that it takes a time to educate people on the biology and agricultural practices and the history necessary to have an intimate understanding of the subject. It takes one misleading anti-science 'documentary' to scare people. BTW, the study cited about GE proteins in fetal blood....they used the wrong test to do the study! Must have done some real quality research if you're citing Leblanc & Aris

Your response reminds me of when I posted a dozen or so studies suggesting potential adverse affects in GE fed animals and you responded, "Should I be surprised? I'm really not. I've seen a few of those things before. Not impressed."

I want tohybridization, chemical or radiation mutagenesis, marker assisted breeding, induced polyploidy, grafting, sport selection, somaclonal variation, wide crosses, embryo rescue, and tissue culture? What if I want to know what exactly mutations are present in my food? Where's my right to know there, and if I don't have it, why single out one plant improvement method?
@Zhavlon The huge majority of GE crops, etc. already use virtually all those conventional breeding techniques and on top of that use recombinant DNA techniques, etc. So, the reality is the entire process used to create GE crops, etc. causes more changes to organisms than conventional breeding alone. It is because GE uses additional techniques not used in conventional breeding as well as techniques from conventional breeding, that a label of the specific GE crop(e.g. Bt11) should be required.
The request is for labeling of GMOs. You might want to research further into the consequences of GMO's on Organic crops, farmers, animals, local economy, ect. However, if you already consider the list of "food science" you included to be "plant improvements", you might already have a clear opinion as to what "right" or "wrong", in which case, you may already be closed to dialog. Just saying... :0)

one of my coworkers considers herself to be very educated but she has no clue what GMO is. When I told her she began to laugh at me and asked me "Where do you get your information,,, the National Enquirer??" then continued to laugh at me,, I felt bad for her, her education came from a christian college, it doesnt seem like they are teaching much of anything good.
