Pushing a button on your phone will not cause any damage. This is total BS. All cell phone power is dc, any short in power is fine!! For Example, your phone was probably on when you dropped it in the tiolet, even thought you didnt push a button after.

@9HappyMe9 You want to minimize electricity moving around and shorting wires/boards, but if you pressed the button, you're not necessarily lost. Just keep your phone off and dry for a couple of days. It may just come back to life.

@WEaccessories i accidenlty dropped my iphone 4 in the toilet, i quickly got it out and dried it with a towel, then i tried to turn it on about 4 times, then pressed the back button about 3, does that mean my iphone is pretty much gone?

I had no patience. My HTC is gone forever.

So I had a broken water bottle in my bag and my phone was in there too.

So at first I dried it out but had no patience so I followed some dude's video to save the phone so I rinsed it in water and left in in rice.

& guess what it didnt work.!

So now I have a brand new looking phone that does not work.

Only the buttons work just that the screen doesn't show up.
