If these wars are so right, then why are so many vets offing themselves? I notice even with most of the old vietnam vets that the ones who realized it was bullshit and made peace with what they were forced into, are the ones doing reasonably well now. The ones who still tow the bullshit pro-war line are the ones who have the predominate tendency to be drunkards and druggies or just plain mean and viscious. If you truly know what you did was right then you don't need to be boozing and drugging.

The military makes up about 2 percent of the entire population. Any shift in numbers, in such a small group, will of course appear as huge percentages. Secondly, the amount of casualties during combat is so small compared to korea, ww2 and so forth, so again, of course, huge disparities in percentages. This guy is a fucking retard.

@jmrx27 2% of 300 million is six million. Six million is a HUGE population size. Statistical inference may be done on popluations that are orders of magnitude smaller with no problem.. The size of the disparities and the trend both rule out random fluctuation. Simple central limit theorem.

The problem is the media makes Army BCT seem so easy and shit. and they get these dumb kids me included to make it seem like its gonna be "cool" oh these cool uniforms i wanna wear that and shoot all these guns. They grab you by the balls with the 4 year, 8 hidden year contract. And they come to what ever training base and the first sergeants are psychopaths and get drill sgts to do crazy things. The propaganda this country puts out is completely wrong and should be changed.

I don't know what the stats are for the Army or Marines, but I heard recently that the second leading cause of death in the Air Force is suicide.

@Mjena23 it's not surprising. the problem is that familes are shifted all over the place every three years and speand at least one of those three years deployed. it destroys families. these people are killing themselves because there really is no one there who cares about you. there is a "barracks rat" epidemic in the army. i was a barracks rat! not a healthy lifestyle, i don't care how hardcore fucking infantry you are cuz you go bully people into poverty and then it'll be turned on us n the US

But it isn't just the returning soldiers who have mental health issues. Some of the problems that seem to contribute to the high numbers are extended deployments, bad work environments, family related problems (a lot of the suicidal soldiers were having relationship problems that were made worse by their deployment), etc..

About half of the "wounded warriors" that came through the hospital ward where I used work were there for mental health issues. PTSD, Paranoia, Severe Anxiety, Suicide Attempts, etc. With some of the patients we would be told to use caution when we took their morning vital signs not to startle them as many of them had nightmares or were very skittish. Many were there because of brain trauma caused by IED blasts, and Humvee rollovers (those vehicles are deathtraps).

So my uncles sister was in the gulf war as a mechanic I think but they were doing something in these bunkers or something but anyway she was told it was totally safe but when she got back she kept on having to go to the hospital and they couldn't help her cuz they didn't know what it was and long story short it was her fault not the armies even though a lot of soldiers had the same problems coming back

the reason they commit suicide is because they are most likely on prescribed medication such as the SSRI's , believe me ive been there, this is another crime against humanity they want hidden, PLEASE PLEASE CHECK OUT A SITE,. SSRI STORIES. This info also needs to be spread, this site will SHOCK you. And i care about all these people that are being used, it makes me cry aloud, love to you all.
