So her songs were not played as often internationally. And her All For you album was not sold in Europe at all. I disagree. Beyonce (and Destiny's Child) has plenty of meaningful songs. She's probably the most feminist artist out there today. She sang on the cancer relief song Just Stand Up and co-wrote the World Children's Day Anthem Stand Up For Love. Even in her albums, she has meaningful music. So her songs were not played as often internationally. And her All For you album was not sold in Europe at all. Janet Jackson's producers, Jimmy jam and Terry Lewis wanted her to have a strong black following and Janet so did she. Beyonce didn't aim for that but for international success and got it.

She sang on the cancer relief song Just Stand Up and co-wrote the World Children's Day Anthem Stand Up For Love. Even in her albums, she has meaningful music. Remember, Beyonce has only been in this industry for about 12 years now.. And what made MJ international? his BIG HIT ALBUM THRILLER! After that, michael became Unforgetteable. He started in this industry in the late 60's- early 70's.. and it took him a while to earn that spot.. so lets wait and see what beyonce's future holds =)

There's no way you can be alive in the world and think Beyonce isn't an international icon. The proof is all there. Granted, she's not as big as Michael Jackson and she probably never will be, but she's definitely famous everywhere.

She may be an international influence but i mean... i am not the type to say people should be like her and she a great example for other people to look up to... you will be decieved... i mean you see the negativity she recieves and puts off.... she has issues with her wardrobe knowing kids are going to be at her performances... she is always asociated with sexual things i just think it would be sad to see people fall into that same hole fall down becuz they dont know the truth about these thngs.

From the article they confirmed Beyonce at 118 million, and that's not including DC sales, you really can't get an accurate sales count as of now because Beyonce is still an active artist ,with an album out that's still currently selling, so we can only give an estimate, maybe when she slows down, then we'll be able to give a definite figure, but the number I gave is confirmed, remember she won this award in 2006, it's now 3 years later.

Honey, over the years DC SALES wih Bee have been fabricated for years. It went from 130 (AMA'S 2007) million records to 118 (Forbes 2009) million records.
Destiny Child has sold 35 million albums W.W. according to Billboard which included their overall sales. Want me to show you some REAL link swhich states sales???
DC has sold 20 million singles (Before DIGITAL DOWNLOADING joined the RIAA).
Beyonce has sol 18 million albums. 20 million singles.

Most, if not all B's singles have multi-platinum or gold certifications.

No, it's higher than that, Forbes just did an article about Beyonce (when they counted down the power 100 List, Beyonce was featured on the cover) and confirmed her album (as well as other important info) sales in the article (and cited the source, for those non-believers, so you can look it up yourself).
Also, Billboard only covers U.S. Sales, not international sales, so you need to factor those in as well, R.I.A.A. only confirms sales for the U.S.

i'm proud of her that she won that, its a great accomplishment & her being the first black female artist at that, to win it is great. but i do feel like Mary j. Blige should have been nominated for such an award. Mary is a legend within the U.S.A and some parts of the world but she doe snot have the same internaitonal appeal as Beyonce. Very proud of Beyonce. She is an icon. She lead an all girl group to superstardom and she has been this industry backborn for musical direction and life. She is the reason why Mariah had a comeback and the reason why Janet can't comeback. Beyonce is the reason why Fergie is successful and the reason why Rihanna has a singing job. NO one can do what Beyonce does live. She deserved that award the other night. I can't say that for the other winners, however.

no it was the international artist award which has been handed out to extremely few artists such as aerosmith, michael jackson - people who are basically legends and have been around for MANY decades - beyonce's solo career has only spanned about 4 years with 2 albums. can u tell me honestly that she's in the leagues with those other few artists who've won this?
