  • I find the whole debate moronic, especially on the cost side.

We spend 44% of our national budget on the Military. Last year the military received $711 BILLION dollars. Only $200 billion went to the war.

On the other side, if you combined Healthcare, poverty prevention, education, and science programs only account for 34% of our budget last year.

  • It REALLY is sad... I don't understand why it doesn't bother people that we're the richhest country in the world and all other industrialized countries have universal coverage. it's CRAZY!!!

  • Beyond that, the public option in the original house bill was only a $2 billion dollar initial investment. That's right, TWO. It would provide basic coverage, and allow for private supplemental coverage like medicare has right now.

The public option would be financed through premiums received, and even the CBO (congressional budget office) says that it would remain budget neutral for several years.

The only bad part of the bill was the Long Term Care plan they added in. LTC is a HUGE scam.

  • As someone whose credit rating is in the tubes and who is in deep, deep debt due to medical expenses and is suffering health issues he cannot address I'm glad to see you speaking up on this issue.

  • Thanks! I'm really sorry about your situation... It really pisses me off how this issue is being distorted at the ultimate expense of people in your situation... It's just not right...

  • How many times do you hit your head on the bed by the way?

  • I really am beside myself right now...

  • As a side note... Not to knock on dermatology, but I'm sure there are some doctors out there who REALLY actually have a passion and calling for it...

  • Thanks so much for taking the time to do this. I am sending it on in response to some nasty emails I have received!

  • yea... it's pretty sad how strongly people are against certain proposals when they're completely ignorant about how the health system works...

Make sure and tell them the AMA (American Medical Association) is completely behind the proposals in health care reform (doctors would know best I would think...)
