  • I want to go to a party like this!!

  • This sketch is relevant to me since I have known each and every one of those visitors some time in my past.

  • Sorry about the last comment. It'sb

  • Monty Python - .

  • I cannot listen to this song without cracking up thanks to Monty Python.

  • Hoped this sketch was available. Looked up 'ding dong' and lo and behold it was. Anyone know the name of the sketch where Carol Cleveland was sitting on a sofa looking adoringly at her 'wino' fiance when her father comes in and asks what his prospective son in law does for living, to which he replies, I clean public lavatories and after six months they'll give me a brush'!

  • @sangell3 Ken Shabby!

  • LETS HAVE A DING DONG THEN !!!!!!!

  • Terry Jones as a woman. He excels himself in this sketch. Just so funny.

  • NEVER answer the door ! Could be Arthur Name ; Name by name, name by nature , Lol

  • what's brown and sounds like a bell. dung.

This joke and the way Eric Idle laughed at his own joke gets me every freakin' time!

  • That Carol Cleveland ...quite a bird.....yummmmie...

  • I think this sketch has the best collection of one liners in history

  • I TOLD YOU TO LAY OFF THE BEANS YOU WHORE!

  • The stuff they got away with...Too funny. They really knocked down a LOT of barriers.

  • One of my fave Python sketches, along with ''splunge'',''self defence'' and, actually, countless others. I have the first Python album, bought back in the 70s.

  • HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA- oh! I wet 'em

  • Pure genius.

  • "I don't much like the tone of your voice."

    *shoots*

  • did anyone else think "Gods, Rocky Horror crossover" when the purple slip wearing guy walked in?

  • Cleese is a total jerk!

  • Comment removed

  • I finally got that bell joke.

  • Best.ending.ever.

  • When Eric cames in the house talking like in "nudge nudge" and puts that music on, I istantly thought : the caos will strat in a few seconds. =D

  • Terry Jones plays a rat bag woman so well!

  • @CountKarloff If you mean the poof, that would be Mr. Terry Gilliam.

  • Who plays the fagg?

  • I TOLD YOU TO LAY OFF THE BEANS, YOU 'ORE!!!

  • love Terry's voice at 3:01 just gorgeous!!!

  • Where´s my gin??

  • I'm obsessed with the way Terry Gilliam rolls his eyes when he sings "Excelll-sis" at the very end.

  • I've watched this four times already today. I'll probably watch it some more...

  • So these were not BBC gigs?

  • this sketch must have been very controversial in its time...what with all the swearing.

  • @MrsDanielRadcliffeN1 What? People swore then probably just as much as they do now...

  • @jazcash Nonsense. When did you hear Laurel and Hardy utter a single obscenity?

    People just didn't swear.

  • @MrsDanielRadcliffeN1 You obviously know nothing of old comedy.

  • @jazcash hah! that's laughable. for your information I know more about old comedy than most people from my generation, who have probably never heard of the likes of Laurel and Hardy and Monty Python.

  • @jazcash and anyway, monty python WAS controversial in its day. Some of the sketches they made were banned when they first came out. Now who's the one that doesn't know anything of old comedy? :)

And what I said before is true- Laurel and Hardy never did swear.

  • Terry Gilliam is one suave fucker!

  • that timing of the doorbell is great...button your lip you ratbag! my fav MP sketch by a million miles...surreal,rude,ironic,bizarre...genius!!!

  • DID YOU KNOW THAT CHAPMAN IS GAY!?

  • Terry Jones: "Oh! I wet'em."

  • Terry Jones: "Oh, I wet'em!."

  • john cleese has a fat jacket on haha. his laugh is hilarious too

  • i just love the timing of the doorbell.....my favourite MP sketch ever....surreal, absurd, irreverent, vulgar....genius....

  • I don't much like the tone of your voice, sir.

    (shoots him)

  • Someone needs to make a GIF of Cleese from 3:07-3:08.

  • "W-Would you mind terribly if I held your hand?"

    The timidity is ridiculous.

  • My all time favorite Monty Python sketch!!

  • i only want three cans!!! priceless!!

  • @QANTAS330

    Three TINS!

  • Strong overtones of Blue Velvet and Clockwork Orange. One of their most gruesome sketches...

  • what a party they threw there

  • "C'MON LUV, DROP 'EM!" - LMFAO

  • This is Audrey - she smells a bit, but she has a heart of gold.

  • they actually sing pretty well together XD

  • i don't much like the tone of your voice

    BANG!

if i ever become a burgler i'm gonna have to get together with some friends and do this sketch, and as we leave everybody takes one thing, what with all the finger prints it would make it bloody hard for the police to find me

  • I know all about one night stands!

  • What does it mean when Cleese says ''Brian Equator. Like round the earth, only with an L"?

  • @anotherenglishman He said Brian L'Equator meaning like a round the earth equator but with an L

  • @creepy609 Thank you for explaining it, pal.

  • @anotherenglishman He says "Good evening. My name is Equator, Brian Equator. Like round the middle of the Earth, only with an L." and laughs because it ISN'T spelt with an L.

  • This might just be my favorite sketch. "I TOLD YOU TO LAY OFF THE BEANS, YOU WHORE." gets me every time.

  • right then, let's have a ding dong... a great sequel to a hilarious sketch

  • What's brown, and sounds like a bell?

    Dung!

  • like the little immigrant at the first part of the movie Stripes, "SON OF BEETCH, SHEET!. I've been looking for this for a long time. Thank you for posting. Had this on my first python album. This is great and I will be 49 in a few weeks now. lol

  • What's brown & sounds like a bell? DUNG.

  • brilliant...the timing of that ring on the doorbell!

  • No one else could write a better funnier sketch like this other then the fabulous Monty Python

  • "Hahahahaha! Oh! I wet 'em." lol!

  • oops, make that 3:54!

  • LMAFO no wonder why the couch was a bit lumpy i was sitting on the cat

    Cleveland: AHHHHH!

  • Oh....oh...the goat's done a bundle.

  • I love Gilliam in this.

  • which one is gilliam?

  • @taishi He's the one dressed like Bowie who comes in smoking and saying "Ghastly place"

  • ha ha and he invites the man with the goat.

  • "I don't much like the tone of your voice!"

  • Is he sexy then?

  • "i told you to lay off the beans, you 'ore!" LOL

  • Oh iris...

my fav MP sketch by a long way...

  • When I first saw this skit, I completely lost it when the tall guy shot the flustered home owner xP

  • Oh Mr chapman's character dies :( The characters were spot on though, there are people liek that! yuck!!

  • Watch this episode many years ago, I finally found this sketch, I had to look scripts in some site.

  • Very recognizable; don't we all have those evenings we planned on our own, and then unexpected guests turn up and invite themselves in?

  • one of my favorites lol

  • Let's have a Ding Dong!

  • Gilliam: "I brought along this simply gorgeous little man I picked up at the Odeon" Cleese (interestedly) "Is he sexy then?"

Jones (extreme zoom while cackling): "Ooh! I wet 'em!"

PS: I like the Spanish for "Come on love, drop 'em!" Thanks to the translator... I'll remember that for future use!

Right lads, let's have a Ding Dong!

  • More gems here than I can count, much less quote.

"So many months in the Soft Toy department... yet never daring...."

    Idle throwing the record offstage...

Film Society meeting... favorite haunt of losers lol

Cleveland & Chapman maintaining masterful "straight man" pose throughout

Cleese's "Shut up you silly bitch" delivered with desultory derision.... breathtaking deadpan (and I say this because I've tried to deliver the line about 20 times without cracking up....try this at home!)

  • What a laugh

  • I love this skit..

  • I feel for Graham Chapman in this sketch. He's too much of a pushover to take charge of the situation until it's deteriorated beyond his control, then when he finally does speak up, he gets shot.

I think there's a lesson there for all of us.

  • @CaribDevist

    Kudos

  • @CaribDevist Not much of an educational program is it?

    Still hilarious though.

  • um...er...well if mr chapman had took charge and thrown out all of the wierdoes and pervs, it wouldn`t have been much of a sketch would it? just a stab in the dark, but are you american?

  • @harrier21 Humor is lost on it, isn't it?

  • Definitely among the best skits the MP crew ever performed. Terry Gilliam dressed like a very very stereotypical poof was a bit much, but still fantastic ^.^

  • I think this is their grandest skit.

  • oh my graham chapman is absouletly charming at the beginning.... :)

  • nudge nudge

  • I told you to lay off the beans you 'ore

  • "Well how are you, you great poof?" XD

  • ''Dung''

  • shut up, you silly bitch it's only a bit of fun :P

  • I TOLD YOU TO LAY OFF THE BEANS YOU WHORE!

    hahaha!

  • I ONLY WANT THREE CANS!

  • roflmao.

  • I die laughing every time at the shooting.

I don't like much the tone of your voice. BAM

  • the best Python -ohhh I wet 'em

  • what's the name of the song at the end, the "let's have a dingdong"?

    does anyone know?

  • "Ding Dong Merrily on High." It's a Christmas carol, obviously.

  • "Come on then love, drop them,"

  • that is the weirdest Monty Python sketch I've ever seen!!! mind you, they're all a bit crackers...

  • Bit lumpy... ah, no wonder, I was sittin on the cat... LOL

  • *screams*

    XD

  • I don't much like the tone of your voice

    BAM!

  • does anyone know if the sketch where michael palin is playing the kid who keeps breaking things and saying "sorry mum" and terry gilliam is eating beans on the couch, and terry jones is talking about his, ahem, bowel movements is on youtube?

  • Yes it is - do a youtube search for "Most Awful Family in Britain"

  • Shut up you silly bitch, it was only a bit of fun

  • I died at that part!!

  • When Eric said "dung!" I burst out into laughter. OMGOSH I love his voice.

    And great sketch! :D:D

  • Hands down my favorite Monty Python sketch.

  • Love how they all have "taken the liberty to invite some friends". Such libertines!

  • The best, Starts calm and gets progressively more insane. But to finish with a Xmas carol is genius off the charts.

  • THIS is my favorite Monty Python sketch of all time ...and that is saying something! Hey everyone...we all know about...the Silly Walk...and the Parrot Sketch ...but its time to check out..."Custom Sketch" or "The Smuggler" it may be called...oh...try out the "Cheese Shop" as well!

  • How come I've never seen this one before?! It's so funny!

  • Isn't Iris the name of the girlfriend in Lumberjack Song too?

  • Eric in this sketch= the Nudge Nudge man? lol it sure looks and sounds like him doing Nudgenudge

  • Same woman; also happens to be John Cleese's 1st wife.

  • Connie Booth, who played Iris in the first version of Lumberjack, and did it in Now For Something Completely Different, was John Cleese's first wife, but the woman in this sketch is not her, it's Carol Cleveland, who played Iris when Eric did Lumberjack live

  • On closer look at the actress I see you are correct.

  • I like how they can play different roles. Grahm Chapman does a great job.

  • Thanks for uploading! Ah my favorite sketch. I love how things just get more and more ridiculous. Classic Python!

  • I finally found it!!!!!!!!! This is my favorite (I don't much like the tone of your voice LOL)!!!

  • "the goats done a bundle" LMAO!!!!

  • "My God! What a simply ghaaastly plaaaace!" LOL One of their best!

  • hahahha i dont much like the tone of your voice

  • My all time fav!

  • aawesome!

  • Calm down you silly b*tch, it's just good fun. XD

  • Nudge Nudge!

  • Who is the actor that enters at 3:24?

  • Is that not Terry Gilliam? I always thought it was.

  • Its him

  • One of the best

  • Lets have a Ding-Dong!

  • Wow there is Paul Standley smoking naked.

  • Oooh, no wonder - i was sitting on the cat!

  • I love this sketch. I LOVE MONTY PYTHON! Rather witty, aren't they?

  • es bueniiiisimo! puto john clease!!

  • ya mero me muero de la risa!

  • Sencillamente brillante

  • Delirio total!!! Jajajaja
