@MrJohnathon55 there is not a sequel...theres only the first one. Louis Lowry didn't make a sequel because she wanted everyone to have an idea of what happened at the end.

the second one is almost a completely different story, but the third one relates back to the baby and what happens later after the escape along with the second book inner twined. Worked out pretty well.

I am 10 years old and reading the book right now! I just got on chaqpter 6. It's one of the best books I've ever read. Another great book is Gathering Blue, which is a companion to The Giver. Another one is The Messenger. I haven't read it, yet, though.

Well, I bet that got an A. Don't get me wrong, if that was the trailer for the actual movie (no offense), I wouldn't go. But, compared to most of these school projects, this one takes the cake. Great choice in background music, btw, although I think you all swapped roles a little during the movie. Pretty good, though. If you had the money and materials, you could have made a great trailer. hey thanks for the feed back. glad to know my editing efforts weren't a total waste. lol yeah some ppl changed parts but that is only because we had four people. plus they were all girls having to fill male roles. well actually i believe jonas comes back in the third book, the messenger.

i dont know if u knew that the giver's sequal was called gathering blue, it really has nothing to do with the giver's characters but the concept of a strange controled community. the third book follows a character from gathering blue and i believe jonas is the mayor of another community founded for ppl who would normally be sentenced to death.
