Castlevania Dracula X (SNES) Boss 6 Death - No Damage, No Subweapons

I was wondering how come this boss without password

I presume that this is the USA version, due to the White blood on Death's Heart. I have the original JAP version, and Death blood is red. Also, when Death dies, and his scythe falls, it cuts off his head.

USA Videogame market fail. I have bought the Castlevania Lords of Shadow recently, the USA version. I just hope there is some blood and violence not censored in the game.

@DonDiego500000 Lol figures. Lords of Shadow as well maybe (not the mobile game)? By all means, I like both old school Castlevania & Lords of Shadow ones that are more hack&slash like GoW. However, when playing the old school CVs, I don't really give 2 fucks about the blood and gore lol, just the gameplay itself.

@GeneralErlend I agree. People started thinking Castlevania was a crappy RPG after the Simphony of the night, just because it has a few RPG elements. But it is not an RPG, it is not an shitty exploration game like Final Fantasy VII. I loved when Konami realised that and returned to the oldschool hack&slash stile. No potions, no magic itens, no level ups, only strenght and subweapons, and pot roasts hidden within the brick walls.

I beat Death in the Rondo of Blood version. I feel like Death is much more difficult in Rondo since he moves around in a bigger space while constantly attacks with scythes throughout the whole fight. Though that may be just me.

@Shadowserg The hypocrisy of it all is that this game (and many more censored games) came out AFTER the uncensored Mortal Kombat II & Killer Instinct on SNES. I guess Nintendo decided that censorship was still OK, as long as it wasn't done to blood-and-gore fighters (because that tended to make players go out and buy a Sega Genesis...).

This game looks slower than Rondo like the physics and everything. The scythes move slower, death moves slower, etc.

I haven't played Rondo of Blood, but I've seen the videos. If I had to guess I'd say they're comparable in difficulty - Rondo's death looks like he fights harder, but there's much more room to move around and dodge in that version.

This fight is MUCH harder than in either DXC or the original RoB, especially when he decides to jump all the way to the edge of the platform, almost guaranteeing you're going to take damage.

It's not any easier.

In fact it's harder because Death's pattern is the same but here if you touch his body you get damaged and slowed down, and of course the place is a lot smaller.

Not to mention you can't get a cross in the pre-boss area which is the most useful weapon against Death.

A remake of Dracula X would be nice, but I'd rather see a remake of either the 8-bit titles or the unreleased ones like Vampire Killer on the MSX or the arcade Haunted Castle.

I think it's because videogame censorship was getting a little tight in the U.S. at the time and they had to eliminate blood from games that had the K-A rating.

I think it's funny that they covered up the blood in the U.S. version by changing the color of it to blue/white. :P look close, it's still blood when Richter dies/death gets hit, just a different color XD

That's interesting. The first appearance of Death in the clock tower was in a low-quality SNES port. Nowadays, he's in the place more often than not.
