*sigh* It Sucks AMAZING Pitcher and a Crappy Bullpen don't equal. Omar you better get that hell of a crappy bullpen fixed this off-season otherwise I'm heading to Citi to chant "fir Omar".
and all well mets would whoop minnesota anytime even Minnesota fans know it to,anyone is stupid to say they would beat the mets u obliviously don't know nothing about baseball then
Before he was playing baseball he was a new yorker anywayz he know how iz done over here it's not liek his family came from minn,no,most baseball players grew up over here
yea i think the same thing, i wasn't gona believe until spring training when i saw him and now i still don't believe it. Its so unreal having a good pitcher on our garbage team =(
I just finished watching Johan's first complete game against St. Louis. Mets 9 St Louis 1. It reminded me of the game he played AGAINST the Mets.. when he won his bet and shaved Bert's head! :) Johan will always be #1 in my book. Hey, great video.. nice song. :)
we miss you but we are still doing good if we had you this year we would be the best in the world plz come back!!!you are star pitcher and then all of a sudden you leave us for the mets now thats sad=[=[=[=[=[=[please join are team again we wont forget you!!!go twins!!!!!BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO METS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
im a twins fan i live in MN and it sucks hes gone hes gunna do alot for the mets i just hope the prospects can help us out just like every MN team trade all are good players kevin garnett randy moss johan santana they were all arguebly the best at there positions damn MN teams
From a Mets fan, damn. Baseball is torture sometimes.
Mets fans loved Gomez last year and his weird bat-licking 'thing' in the on-deck-circle.
Seriously, Gomez is faster than Reyes and he'll be an excellent CF for the twin cities for the near future. He should replace rather Torii nicely in the coming years.
he didnt lick his bat...he sniffed it...when u hit a foul bal with a wood bat...it smells like its burning..its cool i do it every times i hit a foul ball now
You're right, Gomez did sniff his bat, not lick it. I got my wires crossed with the image of Barroid Bonds licking his bat on Sportscenter bumps. Thanks ESPN!
Twins fans, we Met fans know how you feel. The Mets traded Tom Seaver for 4 young players that never did much. Twins at least have good players still. Mets had nothing after Seaver left.
As a Mets fan, I just wanted to say that any analyst, Met/Yankee fan, or pessimistic twins fans that claim you got "fleeced" or we came away with a steal, obviously has no idea what the hell they are talking about. You have 4 really promising players, 3 likely to become perennial players. Its far too early to say which side won the deal, but I assure you the twins will be a serious contender in 2010 and beyond especially with a superstar like Gomez.
Your point that it will take 3+ years for this trade to truly come to fruition is a valid on, but c'mon. Humber has lost any potential as a top of the rotation starter after his TJ surgery. Mulvey might be solid, but he projects almost exactly to a middle of the rotation starter at best. Gomez has potential, but so far he hasn't shown he can hit, which is per usual for Twins prospects, and Guerra is an 18-year old who could be great or who might never be heard from again.
my overall point here is simply that if you are going to trade the best pitcher in the game, you should at least come away with one blue-chip sure thing prospect. Martinez, Ellsbury, Hughes, etc. The Mets didn't even give up their best pitching prospect in Pelfrey. Not a collection of maybes - even reasonably talented ones.
pelfrey is nowhere near the mets top prospect. he sucks and has brought so much pain to mets fans. i would be much happier with humber than pelfrey. he has no potential.
yeah, pelfreys garbage. metseagles is me btw. jonathon niese and others like him have more potential. the scouting report on pelfrey is always that he needs to trust his "stuff". well, he doesnt. so i think he isnt ready yet and when he is, the most he'll be is a #2 starter with a garbage team
Your rhetoric is exactly the same as everybody else's, a projection. My point is simple that is far too early to predict who won the deal. Since the Twins seem to be engaged in a rebuilding approach, and the Mets were just an ace short of a contention, I say it was a mutual benefit. "Who could be great or who might never be heard from again," doesn't that argument apply to every prospect whether its Jay Bruce or Guerra, its really not up to us to determine that.
The reason we say he got fleeced by us is because, the prospects we gave, arent as developed as what the yankees and Sox were ofering. Now, i know Gomez and Guerra will thrive in the majors soon, And maybe Mulvey could thrive as well. But to take Gomez and company rather than Hughes, or Ellsbury or Lester, Seems like the Twins were...fleeced. The Schmooze said it himself also.
