Blaze has a good voice for his style of metal, but for Maiden i think he was just wrong, when they did covers and stuff off the b-sides he was great, but i can't stand blaze singing Bruce's songs, i saw them live back in 1997.. wasn't a fan of him singing run to the hills, and the trooper, and hallowed be thy name, made me cry a little bit, but a heavy metal tear, but he was good in Wolfsbaine (however it was spelled)
There will never be a better band in my opinion. Iron Maiden is THE best in the world!!! They have the most loyal fanbase ever and theyve earned each fan. Hope i get to see them again! I will fly great distances to see them play again! UP THE IRONS!!!

Bruce is a perfect singer and the best choice for Maiden no daubt. But he came back to Maiden because he was not too successful with his solo effort. There has been a lot of Blaze bashing which I reject. Blaze Bayley's latest albums are great. Yes I bought them and like them. I don't like the new Maiden stuff anyway. Now with Steve's daughter opening for Maiden I lost respect. Her music is a slap in the face of real metal heads. This comes from a veteran Iron Maiden fan. It is sad. Up the Blaze!

I disagree about your opinion Metalnjazz. One, jazz sucks. Two, no prayer for the dying was better than X Factor. Although I do agree that Blaze sings this song better in particular. But in Man on the edge, Bruce wins hands down.
2. Sign of the Cross isn't the noly song which Bruce sang great from that album
3. The X Factor isn't the ebst their album of 90's. Actually the same as no prayer for dying or fear of the dark, or virtual XI weren't their best albums in 90's. All those albums were good, But X factor, the same as Virtual XI, has got only couple of good, songs.
Here's the truth...Blaze performs this song better. His deeper vocals are richer in the verses and the chorus is spectacular. I love Bruce, but the chorus is flat compared to Blaze.
Fanboys and haters face it. The best Maiden album since 7th Son is the X Factor.
The X Factor was the best album between SSOASS, I'd say Brave New World is on a par with The X Factor along with A Matter of Life and Death. These 3 albums would be joint third on my list of Maiden albums behind SSOASS and Piece of Mind.
Brave New World has not held up well with me since it's release. It has it's moments however. A Matter of Life and Death is the best reunion release of the three by far and I really look forward to the next one. It'll probably be a crushing disappointment. :-)
Do me a favor and listen to Ghost of the Navigator. A song I really dug when I first had the album. All I think now is paint by the numbers Maiden. Don't be afraid to criticize your favorite band...nobody's perfect.
It's a good song, but there are MUCH better ones on the album. There are beautiful, memorable, great songs thoughout the album. Songs like The Thin Line, Blood Brothers, and Dream of Mirrors for instance.
I criticize my favorite bands all the time. For instance, I don't like Dance of Death much at all. And you can still make great music WITHOUT rehashing your own stuff, while at the same time not changing the tides of musical creativety.
Really enjoyed it when it was released, but my opinion has diminished with a more critical review. They really didn't break too much ground and seemed like a rehashing of the previous two albums. Songs like The Mercenary are just plain bad and most are overlong.
They don't need to break ground, and they don't need to look to break ground. They broke ground decades ago already. All they need to do now is make good music, and they did that amazingly well with Brave New World.

Personally I look for growth and progression in all music I listen to. That's why I don't listen to AC/DC. Certainly a band grows in smaller increments later in their career no doubt. But I hear more fresh ideas in A Matter...vs. Brave and Dance combined, although that is overly long as well.

If you watch disk 2 of the Rock In Rio dvd's, Bruce talks about the Blaze era and says he likes several of the songs alot and that Futureal is one of his favorite Maiden songs to sing, because it's such a high energy song. And besides, he's been singing the DiAnno era songs for 20 plus years now, so obviously he's cool with it (as is Adrian, who didn't play on the original song either....)
Unfortunately, I don't have it........YET! Of course he sang the Di'anno songs. He followed the the guy into the band and were already part of the band's repretoire. As far as Adrian is concerned, when you're a guitarist, you play what the band tells ya to, which they can pay anybody to do. I kinda see vocalists differently in the sense that when you exit a band and return, songs written during that absence usually aren't played (see: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest).

If you watch disk 2 of the Rock In Rio dvd's, Bruce talks about the Blaze era and says he likes several of the songs alot and that Futureal is one of his favorite Maiden songs to sing, because it's such a high energy song. And besides, he's been singing the DiAnno era songs for 20 plus years now, so obviously he's cool with it (as is Adrian, who didn't play on the original song either....)

Unfortunately, I don't have it........YET! Of course he sang the Di'anno songs. He followed the the guy into the band and were already part of the band's repretoire. As far as Adrian is concerned, when you're a guitarist, you play what the band tells ya to, which they can pay anybody to do. I kinda see vocalists differently in the sense that when you exit a band and return, songs written during that absence usually aren't played (see: Black Sabbath, Judas Priest).

I totally agree with u fella Bruce's singing in the Futureal, the clansman, man on the edge and Phantom of the opera are the most dreppessing this I've ever heard, he rlly sucks on these songs, though he's a great vocalist.
