  • Awwww! AFI is MY LIFE! ......and hope to see them in concert someday! yet, I still can't believe I've NEVER been to one what the heck? :(

  • FUCKING EPIC THIS PERFORMANCE WAS LIVE for the front row at least

  • I don't know why but for some reason AFI reminds me of the Cure.

  • @senzafine578 lol yeah plus AFI did a cover of Just Like Heaven

  • The 12-year-olds arguing on here is hysterical

  • By the way, any fan who thinks afi has three albums, STS, DU, Cl your wrong. Afi has * albums. Some punk. Get it right.

  • DU was better that sing the sorrow wtf are you guys saying

  • This is a really good performance!

  • I love this song :) sounds pretty decent live too

ohhhh our dreams seemed not far awayyy <3

  • So fucking beautiful <33333333333

  • lol who said that "hey hey yah" at 2:20?

  • that was RIse Against setting up

  • just like you omygosh you'll be twins

  • immitation is the most sincere form of flattery

  • Amazing performance :D

  • they need to get back to this, this like transition period was as far pop as they should have gone IMO. They should be touring with britney spears and owl city now lol

  • with britney spears? exaturating much??

  • @jcwhite1288 I agree. I still love them but I miss when they "punk"

  • this was a great performance!!!!!!

  • maybe the best performance of this ever and i mean it

i love how davey makes those little vocal explosions they're just epic

  • what a fucking tune!!!!!! =D

  • Dude, I saw them live a week ago. Absolutely the best concert of my life. If you haven't seen them yet, you need to. Otherwise you are truly missing out.

  • i want to so bad

i loved them so long, but they only came to tampa like twice i believe

and one of them was like 96'

  • agreed i saw them in toronto november 10th they were fucking amazing

  • DU was amazing screw yall

  • not their best buddy... not their best. Doesn't compare to Art of Drowning, Black Sails or Sing the Sorrow. Crash Love is pretty damn good too... and their early stuff? AFI has 8 full-length albums and DU is probably their 6th or 7th best? Mind you... #8 (Answer that and Stay Fashionable) still ranks in my top 50 albums of all-time so... I love everything they've released.

  • well my favorite AFI album is the art of drowning, then black sails than sing the sorrow, then shut your mouth and open your eyes then DU

i just think DU was amazing

u act like you were talking to a scene kid or something lol

  • haha, well there was a massive surge of scene kids who only loved AFI after DU :p Glad to hear we rank the albums in pretty much the exact same order. Our Top 3 anyway, lol

  • DU was an alright album, its not up to par with any of there other stuff but it was a pretty solid album either way, Crash Love on the other hand is an amazing album, and these recent live performances show the bands still got it, i hope to hear more from these guys.

  • afi is trully inspireing you have to admit theres atleast one song from each album that you love me personaly i dont give a fuck about wa anyone says i love all there song but especially there eps and hidden songs

    much love afi

  • yes yes you are

    acid3z

  • I LOVE AFI. AFI4EVER

  • i think that's the best days of the phoenix live i've ever seen of AFI well except when they did live in 2003

  • AFI are fuckin amazing, don`t give a shit what anyone says!!!

    Love from Scotland ;)

  • I agree with you 100000000000 times.

I remember watching this online and screaming when I heard the drums at the beginning. AFI is amazing.

  • ok? its a different lifestyle...get over it. just cuz it's not like u doesn't mean its wrong or bad. you can't really argue that being straightedge is inherently wrong or bad...

  • obnoxious straight edge is stupid. like davey straight edge (were you dont do anything, but you dont judge everyone around you) is the straight edge people that are cool to chill with

  • LOL davey dancing

  • Crash Love is supposed to harken back to the good days of The Art of Drowning with a more poetic, romantic feel. Jade said in an earlier interview they don't play much old stuff because it didn't fit lyrically and melodically with the new stuff. DU wasn't that bad, it was just a bit more Alt than there earlier works

  • I'm glad someone else thinks the same as me about DU, all I hear is that AFI are "emo fags" now, and that's just not true.

  • idk if they're really gonna put in alot of effort in new album, i think they might just make a goodbye album and support it with a tour, which after 7 good albums i wouldnt mind much

  • Personally I feel so upset they ruined so much of their reputation on decemberunderground its like all those years of building their fan base went to waste. I'm really hoping they make many more albums similiar to The Art of Drowning and Sing the Sorrow so Deceumberground can be forgotten. I mean they r only in their early 30's they should have many more years of AFI to go. I just want them to play more old songs like this live and I never want them to make a album like DU ever again

  • wtf man your a douche okay maybe in your opinion DU wasnt there best but i like it just as much as anything else they came out with your a really great fan if you think DU should be forgotton coz it was so terrible the whole point of afi is that they evolve and dont sound the exactly the fucking same and they didn't ruin anything

  • DU just filtered all the hardcore fans who love anything afi from the retards like you who's head is shoved up your arse so much that you dont care about the band only what you want them to sound like

  • Just because "they evolve and never sound the same" doesn't mean the albums will be good. Maybe they change to appeal all the scenes in music.

    DU was shit.

You need to chill the fuck down or I'll block you from my videos.

  • dude it wasn't even directed at you ....i was talking to shiftymusic.....so what the fuck

  • agreed

  • @TheSecretNinja337 what do you mean they appeal to all music scenes, is that good or bad, by the way im 13 and have all 8 albums. I love every album, besides DU.

  • @slipknotrocker9 Your name also contains the words "slip" and "knot" one after the other. This makes any opinion you have invalid.

  • @slopper18 im a huge afi fan. why are you being an ass to fellow AFIfans?

  • @slopper18 dissin on someone for liking music that you dont makes you a tool.

  • Comment removed

  • @slopper18 my account name has nothing to do with my opinions.

  • Comment removed

  • @slopper18 AFI is my favorite band, so dont be critizcizing me for my account name.

  • @slopper18 im a huge afi fan and i dont know why you are criticzing me on my account name Slipknotrocker9, this is my other account named after an afi song.

  • @slopper18 everybody needs to stop insulting other afi fans.

  • @TheSecretNinja337 DU wasnt shit. I liked it a lot.I think the album was good. There You go. Appealing to all scenes of music is bad ? You know open minded artists like to make different albums with different sounds. And its hard for me to believe that an AFI fan would dislike DU after liking their earlier albums. Its not like they went from rock to techno like some people try to think.

  • @TheSecretNinja337 AFI are Gods, everything they've ever done from the Dork EP to Crash Love was fucking perfect... Don't think they need fairweather fans...

  • ive been a fan since STS. DU wasnt that great at all. Crash Love is a good change because they mixed new and old. im still a fan, even though i did like their punk music better

  • dude totaly agree. i truly disliked december underground but am liking the new single, its all iv heard but it sounds good. that and im glad davie isn't a fuckin emo anymore, fucking trend whore. haha

  • They sound really great here, a lot better than DU a few years ago

  • No need to make fun of people with a disease. They're more than you. Bitch

  • wow douche

he doesnt actually sit there and pro-shoot the concert, he rips them off a website, douche bag

  • you fucking asshole just cause you dont like the footage doesnt mean you need to make fun of people with problems they cant help. you stupid asshole

  • best flippin song of my life. Til The Day I Die, A Fire Inside.

  • I love how he sounds when he says "time was so tangible I'll never let it go" the 2nd time around. absolutely amazing. A FIRE INSIDE FOREVER.

  • if they ever stop playing this song i wont be a fan no more

  • yea it is a great song, but you should never give up on them

  • i was partially joking..........partially

  • Comment removed

  • He cut it off like 2 years ago...

  • that fucking rocked. major step up

  • 2:40 EPIC.

  • man i hope they bring there hardcore punk roots back, is this afi? lol

  • Beautiful

  • I swear i saw Nick 13 LOL!

  • I think he looks great! It's professional and stylish, and his hair is really nice. ^_^

  • i dont care what Davey looks like... love him for his excellent music! AFI FOREVER!

  • I'm digging the deeper vocals, should make Crash Love easier to sing without accidently breaking into falsetto. I've always loved Davey's vocal range, but it sounds illustrious now. Really anticipating Crash Love's sound. Hopefully we wont get the slightly butchered vocals we were given with DU's tours.

Praying there hardcore past will be sung with the same strength as displayed here, I didn't like ASS much at IHAV as other performances. But this is looking promising.

  • in the song? how is that weird?

  • The sound check guy needs to SHUT UP!

  • wat was that at 2:20

  • yeah yeah yeah

  • ok lol but who the hell said it?

  • sound check from someone in the back lol

  • thats pretty funny lol

  • I think he says "yeah, yeah, Davey". Admiring his rad dance moves probably.

  • Point?

I agree I like the toned down look more.

  • yep

  • btw

I cant hate a fellow afi fan :)

  • To that last reply you sent me Secret Ninja

I DONT CARE ABOUT GETTING FACTS STRAIGHT

Point is, he hasent done a show in a while.

1 yes he has a good voice

2 it just cracked alot in this show

3 stop constantly correcting me, i dont give a crap what you think

    4 your a douche

BTW you discrace the name secret ninja

  • 1 agreed

    2 agreed

3 you do give a crap, that's why you reply back! :)

    5 "You're", not your.

    BTW discrace or disgrace?

  • Touche douchbag XD

    SORRY! Douche Bag

    HAHA

how long have u listend to afi?

cus im done arguing with you, cus i keep getting owned LOL

  • @TheSecretNinja337 Do you think that Cl was to please the current trend in music? Anyways I have every afi album, and i respect there music changes, they dislike putting out the same record.

  • how can you get the ep? i didnt think it was out yet..

  • i got an advance copy

  • How the heck did you manage that?

  • if you really got it can you upload some songs for us fellow AFI fans who weren't lucky enough to get an advance copy? please?

  • well they have ether out, its off there new ep, it sounds diff from DU, it sounds a lil more like STS, but the lyrics arent as great

  • Of course it sounds like STS, ether is from that era not the DU era. xP

    BTW Crash Love rules!

  • No it's not. 100 Words are Carcinogen Crush are from STS.

Crash Love can't rule because you haven't heard it.

  • Well I heard ether was from STS just re reocrded during DU sessions same as with Carcinogen Crush.

Of course Crash Love rules, it's a matter of knowing AFI will always put out good stuff. They always have.

  • You heard wrong. Ether was never mentioned in the official statement.

And no, Crash Love still doesn't rule. DU wasn't good. Sorry!

  • DU was good, it was just different

  • I wish they would give us a preview or a few seconds of new song to hear how Crash love is gonna sound

  • ughhh me too! I want to know what they've done. If they went more electronic, or if they went more like Sing The Sorrow/The Art of Drowning. Personally, I hope they go back to Sing the Sorrow/The Art of Drowning. Either way, I'm sure it'll be great though :D

  • Davey said it was "more hardcore" and didn't have any electronic elements, on a radio interview (that Hunter was in, but Davey made a brief phone call to)

  • :O! yay! thanks for letting me in on that!

  • is crash love the EP or Album name?

  • Album

  • album

apparently the EP is gonna come later

  • Thanx Bro

I'd rather hear a full album, than 4 songs lol

  • I am sooooooooooooooo looking forward to their new album. it is going to be sooo amazing!!!! Crash Love FTW!!!!!

  • Whoa, so much better than IHAV. 1:45 and 3:14 ..wow.

  • This is fucking unbelievable..... Even if the new album doesn't end up being their best material, we should care less because after seeing the videos of this whole performance, we can say they are back in a huge way. They just needed sometime for his voice to heal after the surgery and I think they ALL sound better than ever and can't wait to see what AFI has in store for us in the future.

  • i didn't know he had surgery?

  • Amazing performance...I like the way Davey sings "I want to stayyy" at 3:12 it sounds kool, but if u listen to the backing vocals.. someone cracks at 3:16 lol (it happens BUT) it's truly heartwarming to still see them sing their hearts out on the older material . I really can't wait to hear their new stuff and see them live!

  • he sounds so much like Morrissey right there it's incredible... by the way, jade's passage after the second chorus (spoken word part) sounds SO much like Johnny Marr's guitar on the Troy Tate sessions version of 'Pretty Girls Make Graves'

  • his voice is kinda diferent its not who it used to be, it makes them sound very like not AFI, dont get me wrong i love afi, but i got so used to da voice in the The Art Of Drowning and Black Salis In The Sunset era, and without da make up and all that makes them seem "mature" its good but in a way it makes me sad to see them grow lol

  • thats exactly how i feel i loved his art of the drowning voice. And i mean i still love AFI but he just sounds so much more like a good singer now lol

  • The Art of Drowning

  • I know, art of the drowning, The art of the drowning, same thing

  • He's improved a lot, but he looks and sounds tired. Way better than DU era performances

  • I fucking love how is voice is sounding it's not as whiney as it was. It's getting powerful again and hell i like the du songs alot they did during this set because of it. But DOTP is great can't wait to see them in the uk again FUCK YEAH!! They are gonna be once again the best band around

  • I'm not looking at the video while watching this, and my mind drifted off for a while when I was listening, I could have sworn it was from STS. Of course, Davey's always amazing live. *sigh* AFI owns me.

  • His voice is deeper in this.. I kinda like it .

  • I'm so glad they only did a few songs from DU, their old stuff is amazing, im also glad to see davey get back to his true front man form again, yelling and dressing like a true king without so much makeup or none at all. I don't care if you down grade me, the people who do are probably the ones who got into AFI through DU, You can step down, Don't know the true AFI,

  • even though i dont realy care about the make up issue i do agree with you altough DU was it wasnt the best IMO It Was Black Sails and Sing The Sorrow

  • hell yea i agree 100%

  • Doesnt get any better than this

  • If you are looking for a list of the songs they did at this show -

    Girls not grey

    Silver and cold

    Leaving song pt II

    Miss Murder

    Love Like Winter

    Days of Phoenix

Love is a Many Splendored thing

    The missing frame

  • and he pulled that off whilst being ill

    ACE!!!

  • He wasn't sick.

  • i was told he was unwell during the set

    my bad

  • lol that would make it the second time he got sick during aac.

  • His voice has improved is an understatement :)

  • fav A.F.I song

  • their bringing the pheonix back and im liking it =] AFI will nvr fail 2 please their fans.thts y their my favorite band.

  • Good god. As a statement on all of the KROQ 2008 vids, I have never been prouder of AFI.

Their look has become so much more modest, Davey's vocals have improved so much and the energy is something I've not seen since 2004.

I especially love the unique pitch he added to 1:45 and 3:14. Also, Love is a Many Splendored Thing! I don't know if I've ever anticipated an album as much as their upcoming one.

  • Best AFI song and a spot on performance. :)

  • WOW I watched this, but I see now his vocals are totally better and more healed!

  • weird hair lol but awesome performance none the less

  • If I wasn't watching this video and only listening, I'd have thought the vocals were of the STS era, which is a good thing.

  • what r u saying afi is good now dont be so negative their evolving thats good have you listened to a song called miss murder. well then you now daveys vocals are better then ever.

  • the crazy camera angles and the random LSD effects are distracting,

    but AFI tore it up:]

  • this performance is intense! I love it! thanks for putting this up. they haven't performed in a year so i can really feel the energy and rawness!

  • siiick performance!

  • hahaha. 2:20 someone backstage is doing a mic check.

  • his vocals are so much better now then 2 years ago. but not as good as 10 years ago. still, better. good song. better vocals, davey.

  • his vocals definatly improved

  • awesome.
