@desdecks19 no, it's not, I think it's the guitar signal split in two paths, one normal, the other through an octaver then in a reverb + delay then mixed again to the original, you can hear a sort of shimmering harmonic over the guitar part, that's it.

@marcello252 the effects on the solo are as follows, he is using an e-bow, running through a delay...the guitar signal is routed by midi to a keyboard... which on signal adds synth notes with delay to the solo which is the dual layered sound you can hear, the synth notes from the keyboard are a octave higher than the ones he is actually playing.

Bono hasn't forgotten how to write - 'white as snow' proves that - its just that they've got to create different music to stay relevant - (e.g. Vertigo ).
