A great guitar player is a great guitar player period. It's ridiculous to ask if someone can play better. I like a lot of great playing. Gary may not be the smoothest player around, or the fastest, but he's definitley got that all-important feel for it, and maybe more than most.

I guess we can clock out the fastest guitar player out there, but then what? He'd be the fastest so what? I'd be impressed for 20 seconds then move on!

On the DVD "Blues Alive" this intro transitions in to an amazing version of "Separate ways". I have every scrap of Gary Moore video and audio available from every country including bootleg stuff, and in my opinion the "Blues Alive" Video is his finest work ever. If you don't have it....get it. It's not just a video, it's an emotional experience.

Got it too. I've been evangelizing on Moore and his performance in this DVD on the comments associated with the Thrill Is Gone performance with "Mr. B.B. King". I think B.B. would admit that Moore's a better guitarist than he - Gary can play anything that BB can play, while BB can't play everything that Gary can play. Not a denigration to Mr. King, just reality. This DVD is played at least once a week in my house.

Watch 'BB King live in Japan 1989'. The guitar style is similar to this one although the level of clarity and contol is far greater than anything Moore could do, or any other guitarist for that matter.

I'll disagree tho that Gary plays better than B.B. King. Sure, he's faster, much faster. Better, stronger bends. More vibrato. BUT-

No one can match B.B's phases. And they are improvised on the spot phases. Gary's style relies heavily on effects, which greatly adds to his overall playing and that killer tone he generates.

B.B. plays straight up, just plug'n'play. It's all about the PHRASING!. Ya Gary's come up some real cool ones. But without B.B. being his guiding light, what would he be?
