  • that vibrato is heavenly...

  • Man those pickups are hot!

  • One of the best Guitar performances I have ever seen. So much better to play with brilliant feeling and tone than playing 1000 notes in three seconds!

  • this is REAL guitar playing. not that metal shredding shit!

  • a true great the world will miss him

  • since he died the "he was the best payer eveeeerr!!" comentsare increasing rapidly

  • very good

i feel flattered to listen such beautiful music, especially the way he play the quitar...absolutely amazing....

    greetings from Romania!

  • @Easleytee Gary Moore is the best guitarist ever, because he was able to play as fast as Shawn Lane, but with much more taste, feeling, and emotion.

  • WOW!

  • R.I.P. God bless your soul!

  • So much soul.

  • Unable to find the Jazz on this intro, it's very good though.

  • Another one of the great masters gone. Not many left. I'm in shock . You will be missed by many Gary.

  • RIP

  • This masterpiece is a mindfuck.

  • This intro is better than the actual song.

I adore Gary for his godlike playing ... Just incredible!

  • what a God gifted talent, Bravo Gary, they are none better!!!1

    thanks for the memories

  • One note played by Moore does more than one million notes played by a shredder.

  • O_O Gary kann sich echt mit sich selbst beschäftigen.. Der brauch keine Band ... verdammt ist der gut...

  • I disagree with vai bein technically better than moore, for a start gary is self taught and vai was taught by joe satr

  • wwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwwaaaaaaaaaaaaaaawwwwwwwwwwww

    great

  • His music takes u on a musical journey,Just close your eyes and enjoy!!!!!!!!

  • technique isn't only about speed or sweep picking.. there's bags of technique going o here in terms of control, vibrato and tone.... most shredders wouldn't know where to start to be able to play like this !

  • With this sound I can enjoy my Sunday-afternoon, drinking red-wine and reading the newspaper. Lovely!

  • I have seen this video 1000 times. My all time favorite

  • Is there somewhere FLAC version of this concert available for download?

  • When I think I've seen it all I come back to this vid....

  • This guy's got chops, shame he only plays little gigs now, some punters were chinwaggin'. Far too good for em. Brought his whole band to a hospice in Darnley but not many showed up.

  • your right ejlister its not the 59 les paul because this one has different pick ups i think i read he also has a 60 les paul but im not sure! if you search green moore guitar texas expo it sold at that expo show it show that guitar an who bought it an explains about its history it also states that it was not stolen so!!!

  • Nopatienceanymore, He plays pretty good with his fingers too. Love this guy.......

  • Gary is super! no bad talk about gary he is one of the best . He is one of my heroes

    !

  • THE MOST UNDERRATED GUITAR PLAYER.....Ever in my opinion. These guys who comment that they don't like his phrasing should study his playing for a while then come back here and say that!

    PS

  • One of if not the finest guitarist in rock or blues. He is amazing, speed and tone. He is so aggressive on guitar. My favorite player

  • cant believe theres so many negative comments about gary........ hes one of the best guitar players out there is u fucking twats.........such tone and passion.

  • totally agree...amazing

  • He plays with his FACE just as much as he plays the guitar

  • A blusy intro no jazz at all.

  • So what if he gets pissed just buy a few more beers and get on with your life. He's brilliant and gets bored. And people out there get annoying as shite some times, get over it!

  • Get over it

  • Wich Les Paul model is that?

  • That seems to be 80's standard which is called "Still Got The Blues Les Paul" around early of 90's.

  • @78weirdbird

    ??

Pretty sure that's the '59 That belonged to Peter Green.

Now sold and in dispute with who originaly owned it.

  • No, sorry. Different pickups, and this one is much darker.

  • I have never heard a guitar sound like that, those high gain bends seared in my heart like fire. Gary is truly the best!

  • This is on Live Blues/ only on VHS around 1992,special guest BB King

  • sheeeeeeet! I've had my doubts about GM regarding the path his career has taken which sort of has tinted my wiev of him as a musician which is utterly unfair.

He is a fanstastic guitarist and a freaking awesome musician who plays whatever he wants in my mind from now on. His videos has popped up under my nose at YT lately and I was wrong.

Rock on, Gary ... or bop on or do whatever. You are one of the greats!

  • is this from a live dvd? if so can someone please give me the name of it.

    Thanks

  • I had this on video when i was about 13, i'm sure it was called Gary Moore, Blues Alive.. or Live.. wish i had kept it!

  • Superb!!

  • MY GOD GARY

  • Hi mates! This intro is the beginning of the "Seperate ways"!:)

  • searing bends that sting like a cobra. By far my favourite lead player in any genre

  • One of the best guitarplayer ever. He has so much feeling and a perfect tone conrol.

  • @Devilsfish unfortunately he is white and I just cant feel the blues vibe.

  • @icen1ne Bullshit

  • @Devilsfish It's so true ! First time I saw him 1977 with Coloseum 2 and than over the years many times .now he is dead . For me the greatest Guitarplayer all the times. He was also a great singer and a fantastic songwriter !

"Over the hills and far away" RIP Gary

  • yes but you can see folk being crap for nowt . if you pay £30 they should be good

  • i saw him in october , and he was brilliant , even had his boy on stage playing with him .. he was on top form and laughing and joking with the crowd ..

  • Again get over it...

  • Perfect performance apart from that last major chord! Should have left it in melancholy...

  • this is soo good I may have made a small mess in my pants!

  • haha this is not jazz however i love gary moore is the best

  • Is the master ever going to tour the U.S.? Also, how can I download YouTube videos?

  • holy fuck what a tone i suppose its the player lol

  • he is the best guitar player in the worldddd better than all i love you garyy !!!!!!!!!

  • One of the best things i,ve ever seen. Has all the elements of great musicianship: soft, slow, fast, loud, stop-go--- It pisses me off when so many of the top 100 Guitarist polls come out without the name of Gary Moore and some of the other guys from TL in it!

  • Amen!!

  • Keep playing that guitar Gary, ill keep coming to see you.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

  • jazz? that's SOUL.

  • the SOUL is in every note that Gary has ever played! :)

  • its amazing how he can express his feelings soo well with his guitar ..thats something i wish to learn how to do

  • yea true ,but wouldnt hurt to try rigth?

  • your not neccisarilly born with it,it takes many feelings over life heartach, sadness, love, happiness.the hard thing is to express those feelings through your playing and music and to built up the skill to actually be able to play.

  • You need to be technical good, and learn (listen & practise) a lot from the great rock, blues, jazz, old players.

It's a matter of time (years!) and will.

  • A great guitar player is a great guitar player period. It's ridiculous to ask if someone can play better. I like a lot of great playing. Gary may not be the smoothest player around, or the fastest, but he's definitley got that all-important feel for it, and maybe more than most.

I guess we can clock out the fastest guitar player out there, but then what? He'd be the fastest so what? I'd be impressed for 20 seconds then move on!

If it sounds good to you, then it's good!

  • stevie ray vaughan had it.speed which isnt all important but man could he improvise he could just keep playing forever

  • God don't let this man die...........

  • made me get speechless..

  • If you like Gary Moore check out Monte Montgomery too - even more under rated!

  • Gary Moore is one of the most under rated guitar players of our time. He has the most emotion and feelings in playing style of anybody. He brings out the soul of his music and guitar......breathtaking!

  • wow man...his just on a mind of his own out there i dont see people coming close to his style or playing he just way too up there

  • This guy is in a league of his own.

  • how does Gary Moore compare to Steve Vai as guitarists?

  • Vai is technically better, but for me that ain't an issue of "better guitarist", I don't like all of Vai's music (anymore). Gary Moore plays with much more taste and sense, just like Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour also do.

  • in that sense, he is a better guitarist...

I'm sorry, you may say it's opinion... but FEEL is all that matters.

  • @webmastergarymoorenl

Gary Moore is technically as good as Steve Vai, if not better.

  • @webmastergarymoorenl I totally agree! If you favor technique over feel and taste, go ahead, but for us that like to be touched by someones playing... then Gary moore, clapton, gilmour, jeff beck etc.. are the players we like.

  • @webmastergarymoorenl I don't see how anybody can be better technically than Garry Moore, honestly... Vai plays more jazzy solos, but for me it doesn't make him beteer

  • @webmastergarymoorenl imo Vai isnt technically better, neither is Moore. They are both virtuoso players in their own right and although i agree Moore plays with more taste, thats only because i prefer that style of playing. The differences/similarities in what or how they play is going to be interpreted differently depending on what ours ears prefer. And lets face it when it comes to music, judging what is good, bad, great or better is very subjective

  • @webmastergarymoorenl WISH MAGS LIKE CLASSIC ROCK WOULD GIVE GARY MORE COVERAGE AND SEE WHAT A GENIUS HE IS

  • @webmastergarymoorenl vai plays with extreme passion, listen to "for the love of God" to find out whats up....

  • BB King saig Gary Moore was the only guitarist to vevr give him the cold sweats

  • Actually BB King said that about Peter Green.

  • Yep, King said that Peter Green was the only guitarist that made him nervous:)

  • none can match the great guitar playing of Gary Moore....love him since the 80's....give us more gary

  • For what I like electris guitars for and Les Lauls in particular that is the coolest thing I have seen in 40 years of playing. No wonder the gul is legendary amoung guitarists.

  • OK BB King is obviously great and has been very influential...HOWEVER Gary Moore blows his doors off. There is a video on here with gary and bb playing together and by looking at bb's face you can see even he knows gary is playing like he(bb) never has or will!!!!

  • Great guitarist!

  • He probably means underrated

  • Yea, didnt you ever hear of Thin Lizzy?

  • uh...unknown by who? He's been selling tons of albums since the the 80's.

  • Fantastic, Gary Moore, probably the most unknown guitar legend on the planet

  • "unknown"? hes influenced countless of guitarist, and has been one of the greatest guitarist since the 80s

  • thats fucking awesome im speachless

  • BEST GUITARIST!

  • i got it on dvd, shame the whole song aint been posted.

  • On the DVD "Blues Alive" this intro transitions in to an amazing version of "Separate ways". I have every scrap of Gary Moore video and audio available from every country including bootleg stuff, and in my opinion the "Blues Alive" Video is his finest work ever. If you don't have it....get it. It's not just a video, it's an emotional experience.

  • Got it too. I've been evangelizing on Moore and his performance in this DVD on the comments associated with the Thrill Is Gone performance with "Mr. B.B. King". I think B.B. would admit that Moore's a better guitarist than he - Gary can play anything that BB can play, while BB can't play everything that Gary can play. Not a denigration to Mr. King, just reality. This DVD is played at least once a week in my house.

  • Watch 'BB King live in Japan 1989'. The guitar style is similar to this one although the level of clarity and contol is far greater than anything Moore could do, or any other guitarist for that matter.

  • Gary's gotta be one of the best.

  • Simply THE BEST!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • The Best!!!

  • AWESOME!!!!!!

  • gary rulez !!

  • Superb
