One of the best Guitar performances I have ever seen. So much better to play with brilliant feeling and tone than playing 1000 notes in three seconds!
@Devilsfish It's so true ! First time I saw him 1977 with Coloseum 2 and than over the years many times .now he is dead . For me the greatest Guitarplayer all the times. He was also a great singer and a fantastic songwriter !
ANYONE CAN GO ON GOOGLE AND FIND LOADS LIKE THIS ( just put in gary moore sude in german court ) A German court has ordered former Thin Lizzy guitarist Gary Moore to pay damages after ruling the guitar solo in his 1990 hit "Still Got the Blues" had been plagiarized from a German song written in 1974.
A court in the southern city of Munich said on Wednesday the solo in Moore's song was too similar
technique isn't only about speed or sweep picking.. there's bags of technique going on here in terms of control, vibrato and tone.... most shredders wouldn't know where to start to be able to play like this !

This guy's got chops, shame he only plays little gigs now, some punters were chinwaggin'. Far too good for em. Brought his whole band to a hospice in Darnley but not many showed up.

your right ejlister its not the 59 les paul because this one has different pick ups i think i read he also has a 60 les paul but im not sure! if you search green moore guitar texas expo it sold at that expo show it show that guitar an who bought it an explains about its history it also states that it was not stolen so!!!
THE MOST UNDERRATED GUITAR PLAYER.....Ever in my opinion. These guys who comment that they don't like his phrasing should study his playing for a while then come back here and say that!
cant believe theres so many negative comments about gary........ hes one of the best guitar players out there is u fucking twats.........such tone and passion.
i saw him in october , and he was brilliant , even had his boy on stage playing with him .. he was on top form and laughing and joking with the crowd ..
sheeeeeeet! I've had my doubts about GM regarding the path his career has taken which sort of has tinted my wiev of him as a musician which is utterly unfair.
He is a fanstastic guitarist and a freaking awesome musician who plays whatever he wants in my mind from now on. His videos has popped up under my nose at YT lately and I was wrong.
Rock on, Gary ... or bop on or do whatever. You are one of the greats!
One of the best things i,ve ever seen. Has all the elements of great musicianship: soft, slow, fast, loud, stop-go--- It pisses me off when so many of the top 100 Guitarist polls come out without the name of Gary Moore and some of the other guys from TL in it!
your not neccisarilly born with it,it takes many feelings over life heartach, sadness, love, happiness.the hard thing is to express those feelings through your playing and music and to built up the skill to actually be able to play.
Vai is technically better, but for me that ain't an issue of "better guitarist", I don't like all of Vai's music (anymore). Gary Moore plays with much more taste and sense, just like Mark Knopfler and David Gilmour also do.
@webmastergarymoorenl I totally agree! If you favor technique over feel and taste, go ahead, but for us that like to be touched by someones playing... then Gary moore, clapton, gilmour, jeff beck etc.. are the players we like.
@webmastergarymoorenl I don't see how anybody can be better technically than Garry Moore, honestly... Vai plays more jazzy solos, but for me it doesn't make him beteer
@webmastergarymoorenl imo Vai isnt technically better, neither is Moore. They are both virtuoso players in their own right and although i agree Moore plays with more taste, thats only because i prefer that style of playing. The differences/similarities in what or how they play is going to be interpreted differently depending on what ours ears prefer. And lets face it when it comes to music, judging what is good, bad, great or better is very subjective
For what I like electris guitars for and Les Lauls in particular that is the coolest thing I have seen in 40 years of playing. No wonder the gul is legendary amoung guitarists.
OK BB King is obviously great and has been very influential...HOWEVER Gary Moore blows his doors off. There is a video on here with gary and bb playing together and by looking at bb's face you can see even he knows gary is playing like he(bb) never has or will!!!!
On the DVD "Blues Alive" this intro transitions in to an amazing version of "Separate ways". I have every scrap of Gary Moore video and audio available from every country including bootleg stuff, and in my opinion the "Blues Alive" Video is his finest work ever. If you don't have it....get it. It's not just a video, it's an emotional experience.
Got it too. I've been evangelizing on Moore and his performance in this DVD on the comments associated with the Thrill Is Gone performance with "Mr. B.B. King". I think B.B. would admit that Moore's a better guitarist than he - Gary can play anything that BB can play, while BB can't play everything that Gary can play. Not a denigration to Mr. King, just reality. This DVD is played at least once a week in my house.
Watch 'BB King live in Japan 1989'. The guitar style is similar to this one although the level of clarity and contol is far greater than anything Moore could do, or any other guitarist for that matter.
that vibrato is heavenly...

The late Mr. Moore was a fine player.
However, let's not get hysterical the best.
Unquestionably, Shawn Lane is/was the very best electric guitarist who have played the instrument.
Here ends the discussion + debate.
Easleytee 11 months ago
@Easleytee Gary Moore is the best guitarist ever, because he was able to play as fast as Shawn Lane, but with much more taste, feeling, and emotion.
