@bigstink9 all the really early material, ESPECIALLY this and the royal albert hall videos are amazing, as they went on jimmy and robert got a little worn out live. plants voice was wearing quickly and jimmy drank a lot more than he shouldve for live shows. it didnt help that he was already a sloppy player. take note though, that jpj and bonham were as good the day they got together as the day they broke up
This is from Danmarks Radio (Gladsaxe Teen Club, Gladsaxe, 1969.03.17) recorded about six months the band was formed and not even three month after release of their first album. The video was first came out as a Toasted bootleg just over 20 years ago. It was officially released by Atlantic Records as part of the 2003 collection simply labelled "Led Zeppelin DVD" -- an absolute must have for any Zeppelin fan.
Its been said a million times before, but to have been a teenager at the time of Led zeppelin....it would have been something else. Although, to be truthful, ever since they arrived, it's always been the time of Led Zeppelin
A seed....that grew into a tree....whose wood was cut from it....to xreate jimmys telecaster....coated with paint....and used to play this damn epic song. What are the chances that seed would get to be part of jimmys performance....like yeah...
This is 1000 times better than anything today. I have black friends (black ppl from the ghetto) who like this. Thats how i know they are the greatest ever. Gods they are
The best classic soft rock and roll ever done for a group like Led Zeppelin. Those kids in that concert did not have any idea how good they will in a few years to come.....!!!
Judging from Page's guitar, this one one of their first performances.
Those kids in the audience had no idea what the hell was going on. It would be like if aliens landed and started telling us about laws of physics that we're a century away from discovering.
@birdyboom i am a huge huge huge led head and this is the best of the best i dont think you can top this and i have heard everything and seen everthing i just want to know what these people thought when they saw this
@1howlinwolf True! Bonzo just needs a pair of drumsticks and he can rock everyone's face off! (Actually he doesn't even need those, like when he plays with his hands in Moby Dick!)
HAHA.....everyone in the audience is clearly in the process of having their faces blown off and are memorized by their first taste of the greatest band ever!
No band intro. Jimmy plays smokestack lightning riff when he was introduced, was my favorite part of this version. they sounded so good here. Babe I'm gonna leave you is the best from this show.
Never saw Jimmy rocking a Telecaster before. This must of been before Joe Walsh gave him his Les Paul (though I really don't know)! Going to the music store later to get a bow play on my own guitar!
When i was 11, i saw this clip (from the very beginning when robert introduced the whole band) and it was the first time i'd seen or heard zeppelin, and it just blew my mind. Without Jimmy Page I'd never have picked up guitar, and I'd still be listening to top 40 pop bullshit. Now I'm 15 and in a band, and i have these guys to thank for whatever skill I may have.
Led Zeppelin set the new definition of "cool". Volumes have been said about Jimmy & Robert. I also love the way JP & John play off each other to set that rock-solid, driving beat.
@1howlinwolf It is. Jimmy initially put some silver circles on it, and then painted the dragon design himself. The guitar was unfortunately ruined when Page left it with a friend who decided to surprise him by repainting it; the guitar was unusable after that (I don't think Jimmy has entirely gotten over it yet). I think the last thing it was used on was the solo on "Stairway to Heaven"
@HillbillyJ This is Denmark, where the population is rather subdued. That crowd there had no idea they were witnessing history in the making. I'm sure Jimmy knew, though.
this is when music was about the music and the craft. this band unlike the pop bubble gum corporate products like justin bieber and the jonas brothers are not sellouts. nowadays if not all qoute un qoute artists are sellouts or at least not all. there many musical people who i hope should still bring the same sense of musical urgency and taste like these four chaps did. what the fuck happen to music these days? long live what led zepplin did and there musical legacy!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! g4u
@BlakeandIzzyforeva radiohead is the only band that has the musical capability that led zeppelin had. thom yorke and jonny greenwood are the only people that i could ever put in the same sentence as plant and page as far as their impact on music is concerned.
@getupkid923 Yea right ur a nut radio head palease not even close to zep no matter how hard u or they wish they were. way more better bands than radiohead, Nirvana, Alice and chains, Fleetwood mac, the White Stripes, and prolly even audioslave
Its interesting to see how Bonham takes all his cues from the one guy they hardly show - JPJ. And much of this number is dependent upon the steady bass line.
