  • I did not see you weigh the cathode after so how much tin was plated out. One amp of current is defined as the amount of current needed to plate out 1 gram of copper per hour. you can use avagardos number and the atomic weight of tin to find the weight of tin plated per amp of current.

  • @packrat541 The idea was to not agitate the solution so that the tin ions would remain near the bottom of the tank, so hopefully very little tin would have been plated on the cathode which was at the top. But, I should have also weighed the cathode to check. I originally considered calculating the theoretical amount of tin that was plated out into the solution, but there were too many unknowns (varying current levels, inaccurate timing, hydrogen gas and black sludge formation).
