Scott got fucked over by Tom. I actually liked Scott better than Travis (call me crazy) but he can actually play A LOT faster than Travis can. He had somewhat of a drinking problem, and they said it's either quit the drinks, or quit the band. HE CHOSE TO QUIT THE DRINKING, but then Tom said "Oh, too bad." and then he got the boot.

IMO, Travis showed up with a style of playing that wasn't limited to punk rock, and it helped them growing as a band, not limited to punk rock, or whatever. Scott could maybe have recorded something like Enema Of The State, that was pop with punk influences, but nothing like their last album. And I imagine that living in a band, travelling, touring, must be a hard thing to do when you don't get along anymore, and I guess that's what happened with Scott and years later with Tom.
