  • I have her version on a CD compilation. She adds a perfect little touch of "davening" at the end, in respect to the tune's Yiddish origins. The Andrews Sisters do a fine job, but to hear Ella Fitzgerald cover it...well, she was the greatest.

  • You do a decent job here. And I'm someone who thinks no one can top Ella's version.

  • You're very kind, avacadohorse. I was only out to have fun, and that I did. Still working on the musicianship, and always will be. I have not heard Ella's version, I'm embarrassed to say, but will certainly look for it. Thanks.

  • Tim ,I love this song!I knew only Al Bowlly rendition.Wonderful performance.Your strumming is great.

  • Thanks , Biel! I LOVE the Al Bowlly version, and of course the Andrews Sisters version.

  • This really brings out the great sound and ambiance you can get with the ukulele. Awesome man

  • Very glad you liked it.. Thanks for watcing.

  • Thank you so much! This song was recorded rather spontaneously, with not much planning. It's been a favorite for many years, so it came out without much effort. It helps that there were only three chords, I believe!

  • My sure favorite of your great recordings - you make it look so easy...

  • awsome!

  • Takk deg meget mye, Gurouro!

  • OH! :D Big smile on my face, that was the best norvegian sentence I've seen in a while. Correct spelling but with a twist...hehehe

  • I confess...I got it from an internet translator, so I had no idea how correct it was. Glad I made you smile!

  • Tim, this was the first song I got hooked at the beginning of my hard-core swing-dance/Lindyhopper phase. You've taken me down Memory Lane. Thanks! I love your smooth uke sound. Looking forward to your next video!

  • Wow, that was very inspiring! The ukulele is such a cool instrument and you play it wonderfully! Great song, too. :-)

  • Hey Tim! thanks for this tune, I really enjoyed it. You play and sing very well!

  • Thank you very much, Javier. I appreciate you taking the time to comment. I hope to post more soon.

  • We live in Neil's Harbour, Nova scotia, and there is a group here in NS called the Andrews Sisters who sing this type of music.

  • hey, you did a great job. My younger brother's name is Timothy Hatcher, and I found you by chance, looking for his channel. Thanks for listing the chords, I played along with you on guitar and I will learn this song. Where in the world do you live?

  • Thanks for listening and commenting! And give my regards to your brother. (I've never met another person with my name!) I live in Dallas, Texas. There are many videos of this song on YouTube. Very glad you enjoyed it. It's a fun song.

  • Oh Tim, that is wonderful. I love it. I do. :-)

  • The Andrews Sisters did my favourite version--what a shame they didn't play ukulele in their act!

  • Thanks very much, Sirant! It's a concert size William King, from 2006. I love the classic look, though. It's from their Vintage series.

  • Awesome! I love the old tunes from the 20's - 50's on uke.

What kind of uke are you playing? Looks like an old Martin.....

    Just curious!

    Keep on uke'in!
