  • it seems like it had a huge diahorrhea.

  • that was sick

  • MUST BE A FORD 6.0 OR 6.4-no other motor can blow up as much other than cadillac motors!!!

  • in my expert opinion of work i would say that motor flipped its own shit. feel sorry for the helper stuck cleaning up that dead hooker in the bay.

  • Some body grab the lucas oil treatment

  • This engine is a MTU 186, not 396. It is a forced failure for testing purposes. Every manufacturer does it to see how long and under what sort of load and condition an engine will last. Amazing it went viral. Good to teach my students of what can happen.

  • @djlabby

How do they force it to fail? Just over rev it until it lets go?

  • Clean up in engine room 2.

  • Who has the JB Weld?

  • And we drive around with these things haha

  • must have been scary for the new employee then

  • looks like you failed that class!

  • Thats A Quick Way To Change The Oil :)

  • Needs a new gasket, that's all

  • That'll buff right out.

  • Screwdriver, hammer & duct tape ready ?

  • That was cool.

  • must of been a dodge

  • did it broke? :-D

  • That'll buff right out

  • No more diesels. Everybody should be forced to convert to gasoline.

  • @operazanotaijin diesel is more efficient than gasoline =l

  • @operazanotaijin Hey Man just think about it, just because it is your opinion does not make it right. If I thought they should make it illegal to drive hybrids, that would piss you off. That's not my opinion, and you shouldn't force it upon those who differ.

  • GROSS!! Engine guts everywhere.

  • Damn! I'm glad I wasn't in the room when it happened!!

  • Hell... I can fix that!

  • hmmm....well theres your problem

  • tis a forced failure, you can see the water actuation at 0:23 in the centre left of the screen. the engine starts to compress water than explodes

This engine does extremely well as other engines' heads would blow clear off

  • i've seen this before. it's a forced failure of this unit by the manufacturer. it was done on purpose.

  • Engine gore

  • The diesel is runing away...se how the rpm grow up...this cause the fail..

  • @propeople no its not

  • Well that'll void the warranty.

  • and this is why you don't stand in a engine dyno room while an engine is under test.

  • Who, as a motorhead, doesnt like to see Diesels blowing up? :D

  • Fuck me..Bummer

  • Does anyone pay attention anymore when dynoing an engine?

  • :O

  • well looks like some one used the wooden crank shaft in the radification chamber, gess they dont process sarcassum!

  • can't fix that with baleing wire and a hammer.

  • i prefer the valenta, whopper of a sound, thank god it was an MTU blow out, if it had been a valenta blow out i would have cried

  • is that the power stroke 6.4?

  • @rogelv8td probably some Ford parts somewhere in that mess.LOL

  • Holy fckn massacre...THERES OIL EVERYWHERE!!!! video not recomended for engine lovers...

  • That's MTU for you.

  • lol :)

  • der ist Schrott

  • not mtu engine mercedes v8 engine

  • engine had diearrea

  • FUCK YEAH!!!

  • Wow. So thats why most dyno rooms are closed in.

  • Forgot a Jiffy Lube oil change somewhere.

  • Amazing every time i watch

  • Cool!

  • Oh that? That'll buff right out . . .

  • @PikachuG5 my father's got an AWESOME toolkit...

  • If you need a successfully tested MTU 396 engine with guarantee: johannes@dieselworx.eu

  • Comment removed

  • can we say grenade =3- lol

  • Wow...i dont know which engine this is but it sounds great as long it runs ;)

  • This is the worst engine failure I have ever seen!

  • THIS IS DEFINETLY NO MTU. FUCK YOU !

  • first off all

this is not mtu 396 you must know mtu engines first

  • Chuck Noris had his way with that engine

  • @crazycory25 Jesus Christ - if you must pull out that stupid zinger, at least spell his name correctly.

  • You still have this stupid video from Cummins engine and you call 396 mtu how many time you see real mtu 396

  • Is this not good ?

  • duct tape will fix that

  • One way of getting the sump off.

  • Ouch. :P

  • That could take some clearing up!!

  • One of the biggest failures i have seen thus far. Crazy how everything just shot out. Sad to see it seize up at the end.

  • very sad indeed to see a diesel puke its guts.

  • Shit !!!!!,anyone got a mop ??

  • Why is this engine blowing up on the test stand? Why didn't they shut it off when it was clear the engine had broken? Was this part of some sort of endurance test? A safety thing? Like how many bodies a broken rod will chop through?

  • i think this is not a failure , i was at a cummins assembly plant long time ago and they test an angine every few weeks months dont know for sure but they test them until they blow like this to know the resistance of the engine

  • Most catastrophic engine failure Ive ever seen!

  • It just starts gushing out oil and what I assume is diesel fuel from the bottom lol

  • @reddot44

Lots of oil in big diesel's, The Semi I drive has 10 GALLONS of oil in the pan. No fuel there, could be coolant though if the block cracked up in the right place.

  • no mames!!!!!

  • Actually if you look above the air filter piping towards the back of the engine, you'll see a lever move to the down position. it's right above the coupler from the piping to the air filter. I think they purposely starved it of oil.

  • If this video had some fire. i would of came.

  • uh-oh!

  • i think the dyno broke and then the engine over-revved...you can hear it revving way too high right after that whining noise starts

  • @MrCarlonator That makes the most sense man, the wrist pin prob snapped and rocketed a piston down into the oil pan taking half the block with it lol

  • It´s not a MTU 8V 396, it´s only a 6 Cylinder V Engine. I think it´s a Mercedes Benz OM 401

  • @mercusirus1 it is that is correct

  • That's means it's working lol

  • well theres your problem

  • some duct tape'll fix that right up haha if the dyno operator was awake he couldve saved the block

  • It's definitely a merc engine, there usually underpowered and blow up!

  • OOOOOUUUUUUCCCCCHHHHH!!!!

  • Must be a Ford engine

  • This is a Mercedes OM441A/II engine, V6 turbocharged, not an MTU V8

Failure started with a turbo failure, caused by:

    - defective turbocharger

    - to much pressure difference between air admission to the turbo and the oil return pipe: this can be caused by a clogged air admission (dirty air filters / undersized) or a clogged oil return (pipe bent, clogged or oil level in motor too high)

for more details see "Engine explosion dyno room"

  • Needs an oil change.

  • i flinched hahahaha!!

  • its a ford

  • see jimmy i told we needed that number 2 cam postion bolt

  • Test was a success. However, the test subject failed.

  • Looks like it wasn't bolted down at the front, the engine torqued itself up and twisted the block, jamming the camshafts, once they snap it's good night Irene, valves, pistons mashed, snapped crank. Modern engines are very flexible and rely on being tied down properly to survive

  • DAMN!!!

  • THAT.. WAS....... AWESOME!

  • id say it blew the guts out of it. hell look at the oil pan

  • i would say its one fucked engine

  • I think somebody just flunked their rebuild class...

  • @tlfrantz1 LMAO

  • You could hear it tighten up and then throw the rod. Big end failure maybe?

  • is that how you change oil on a diesel engine. lol

  • This is how it looks after you gut an animal......

  • you can call me fuckd up, but this is better than porn!

  • @spinmember I reckon you might be .... but yeah it's good!!!

  • @spinmember ...ohhhhhhh yeah.

    (replay)

  • @spinmember

Not fucked up at all.. I totally agree with ya...

  • @spinmember FUCK YEAH DUDE!! I was looking for something like this for hours before I found it!! All the vids either showed the aftermath, or grainy low quality footage from 100ft away in which you could only see smoke... In this, you can see all the gory details of a motors death! Awesome!

  • @spinmember maybee you should try irl porn, and not jerking on a website...

  • @spinmember fuckn a

  • FUCK!

  • i was doing this particular MTU 396 load test in MTU Malaysia Service Centre when i first saw this vid. it totally freaked me out and made me paranoid. haha.

  • Comment removed

  • put some duct tape on that sucker and try it again. LOL

  • holy shit

  • that torque loading is awesome! screeee- ka-boom

  • @hondarideralex, sorry right, it´s a total failure, but done on purpose.

  • heres what is funny in the uk we have installed mtus in all of our hsts and they do this lol, paxman valentas wouldnt do this and they sounds miles better

  • Is very sad .

  • Standard Burst Test. Engine beeing draged & exhaust being blocked to 100%. You can even see the valve closing in the upper right. No failure. MTU is best german Diesel engeneering ... Not to compare to catarpillar ;)

  • @mcloft2 so if it didn't fail, then why did the entire oil pan get blown to pieces while chunks of the block fell on the floor? and what hit the camera? lol

  • My buddy Vinnie could fix it in no time.Vinnie can fix anything. I mean anything. Give it to Vinnie! You'll be glad you did.

  • Does anyone remeber the movie 'Short Circut'? I could see #5's eyes popping out of his head and saying 'Numerous fraggments, some large, some small!'

  • Why the HELL didn't you shut it down about 26 seconds in?! Why did you let this engine destroy itself?! That is just sad, that you would let it kill itself... >_<

  • ...unless this actually was a runaway case, in which case there would have been nothing you could have done.

  • ooops!!! Customer not gonna be happy...lol

  • yep thats fucked

  • that was fucking hardcore

  • I think I hear bearing noise at 30 seconds first time, and then it blows 2 seconds later.

  • I was thinking that at 24 seconds begins power run (dyno is put to brake the engine to measure power), but maybe I am wrong.

  • thats just a big mess

  • JEEEESUS!!! =00

  • my question is why didnt you shut it down when you started to hear this noise?

  • Guess you need to find a better tutor for your engine rebuild classes :-P

  • I´m working in the MTU Friedrichshafen^^

  • It did not runaway, but sounded like the oilpressure fell away. Then it spun maybe a bearing. But what was it?

  • omg it spilled its guts all over the table.. this is why we cant have nice things goddamn it!

  • Looked and sounded like a runaway, the impeller breaks in the turbo and causes oil to pour into the motors intake un controllably causing over revs and eventual destruction of the engine

  • What? You aren't supposed to have water and oil piss out from the hole where the oil pan USED to be?

  • poor engine

    :(

  • That Was Fucking Awesome!!!

  • duct tape is all u need

  • The starter motor fell off. Fixed in a jiffy!

  • lol the crankshaft exploded

  • Busted bearing, snapped the crankshaft (or something like tht), causing the engine to seize up and literally tear itself apart from the inside out. And look at all the water and oil just spew out of the bottom

  • That was an awesome spectacle and something I've never witnessed before...

  • Just for fun I looked up the specs on this engine. 165 mm bore x 185 mm stroke or 6.53 inch bore x 7.28 stroke yeilding 1931 cubic inches. It's maximum rating is 1129 KW @ 2000 rpm or 1535 HP @ 2000 rpm. One mean mother ! Can you imagine the torque it was producing when it went south ? !!!

  • that was bad ass! well worth 46 seconds of my life!!

  • Thats disturbing to watch. Yesh

  • Some JB weld and it will be ok.

  • @slinky460 lol lets see if that does work

  • @slinky460

    haha so right ! :D

  • @slinky460 that is the sort of thing my ol mann would try ..... did it have enough engine oil ..?

  • @slinky460 cant forget duct tape! lol

  • @slinky460 dude there is nothing left to jb weld!

  • @slinky460 Why to try so hard? superglue and duct tape would be enough.

  • phone call to customer, yea we'v finished tuning your engine, but there's a bit of a knock and an oil leak!

  • @sparkynight73 This comment had me laughing - Thanks :-)

  • wow! That IS catastrophic!

  • There's probably something wrong with me, but I found this quite painful and upsetting to watch!

  • There is nothing wrong with you.

  • wow i would not want to be the person who rebuilt that one. major fail. but oh well crap happens.

  • Any pics of the carnage? I bet you were picking up pieces for a week. Impressive blow-up.

  • Man!!!Great video!!!
