Kudos to Branson and Bill Richardson for sticking their necks out and getting it done.

It will be interesting to see visitors line up to see takeoffs like they do in Florida to see blast offs. Should turn that desert into a commercial area pretty quickly.

Look forward to the grand opening when the building is complete. It seems to be a fantastic design.

@JVhapu I think there may have been one there, but the runway and all the buildings are brand new. You see, spacecraft can't land on normal runways. They need specialized ones that are longer and made of more durable material. Only three exist in the whole world right now. One in Florida at the NASA Kennedy space center, one in California at Edwards Air Force base, and Kennedy airport in Long Island, but that one's only used for emergencies.

@thef1times Didn't know that. Still, this is a brand new runway. If you go onto Virgin Galactic's website you can read articles about the progress of the construction. To be more specific it was a joint effort between the New Mexico space agency, or whatever it's called, Virgin Galactic, and the contractors they hired to pave it. I was able to pull up one press release by typing "virgin galactic runway construction" into Google if you want to check that out. They even have HD pictures.
