Some recent news. Take it with a pinch of salt. However, the U.S and the U.N have submitted they are "looking into the alleged war crimes in Burma" (Roughly quoted). The usage of the word "alleged" by them is, in my opinion, rather insulting and offensive considering the countless documented war crimes.

While all these people die, the UN is sitting at their council room thinking "How can we saction Israel?" While although the Israel-Palestine situation is complicated. Things like Burma, Sudan, South India, Uganda, and many other parts of the world are not complicated.

Shan and Karen have been fighting the corrupt military Junta in Burma for decades with no help. The Karen sometimes get food aid but the Shan get nothing. I support the Shan State Army (south) under Col. Yawd Serk and what's left of Karen National Liberation Army (KNLA). Than Shwe is an insane despot.

Sadly, Burma's neighbours such as Thailand, China and India turn a blind eye when it comes to human rights violations and opt to invest in Burma to obtain access to gas and oil. Companies from other nations are also happy to sign blood contracts.

The difference with all of these regimes you have just mentioned is that the outside world eventually stepped in. However, the world is looking away on this occasion. This is ethnic cleansing at its worst.

Been in Myanmar these last week... Bagan, Yangoon and Lake Inle...in Southern Shan State... not seen anything other than awesomely nice people, definitely poor, but happy to see tourist as it is a source of income for them ... China and Russia both veto the UN proposal. Obviously the flow of money to these countries from the Millitary Junta in Burma is not wanted to end - Money made from Drugs, Human-Trafficking, Nuclear material and more.

When a people are not recognised as refugee's, these people have no rights in any other country. Thus they are viewed and subsequently re-victumized under "illegal alien" status. This opens them up to being used in human-trafficking and slave labor among many other horrid attocities and worse - returned home - Certain death.
