  • For real - Davie - you are a star. I imagine people all over the world are benefitting from your videos; I live in one far flung corner and I know people who are downloading and recording your videos to disk in case they are one day no longer available. Thanks for all yout effort and help.

  • Hi Davie My name is Luke I aM 10 years Old & i am a major fan of yours.

would you be able to tell me what size hook you would use for a nimph?

This would help alot as i like to make flies myself, well im learning but i hope to be as good as you someday Thanks so much , Luke

  • Hi Luke (dancinfingers),

The hooks I use most are Kamasan sizes 10s to 16s as these are the easiest to find here but there's many other companys out there..I hope you will be a better tyer than me and you live in a beautiful country that has some of the best fly fishing you can find..

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie,

great video and tying again and again. Could you tell me what dubbing you are using in this video. I am sorry to ask, but I couldn't understand it, I am not a native English speaker. Thanks a lot. Best regards Jan

  • Hi Jan (wtrw001),

No problem,, I used adult seals fur as I find it very good for both pupa and adult caddis patterns because it has a nice translucent and crisp fibre, not everyone's favourite as it can be a pain to dub on...

    All the best Davie

  • Exceptional video and great technique but not very good audio on this end.

  • Davie, thanks so much for your really detailed, informative, clear and concise youtube videos instructing first timers like me how to tie flies. You make the process so uncomplicated and accessible to all. I love the process of fly tying, and it's especially satisfying to hook up on fish using flies I have tied under your instruction. Keep up the excellent work, it is much appreciated! One question; Do you have a stickleback imitation? Thanks again and hope all is well in Bonnie Scotland!

  • Hi rwalter23,

Bonnie Scotland is a wee bit wet and windy just now....I do have a nice pattern it's a smaller version of the fry pattern I have just uploaded a couple of days ago, I will be filming the tying some time in the future..

    Thanks for the kind words..

    All the best Davie

  • Hi Davie, you are thee best tyer of flies, i've watched hours and hours of videos of all sorts of fly tyers and i would still rate you as the master tyer you never let me down if you did make a video for sale and i think you are good enough to do that now, i would buy it no problem. Regards Alan,

  • This fly is very effective on lakes and streams for rainbows. I love tying your flies. Thanks Davie.

  • Is it just me.. or does anyone else find that watching these videos is extremely relaxing and therapeutic?

    Keep on Tying Davie!!

  • Very hard to UNDERSTAND him ,,,be nice to show the name of the materials and where one can buy them....great tyer though !!

  • Davie,

I have rented every fly fishing and tying DVD that Block Buster and Net flix carries

plus a few I purchased or borrowed. You are heads and shoulders above 99% of them.

None have the close up quality and great instructions that you provide.

You, Davy Wotton, Oliver Edwards and Michael Chan should have your own TV channel,

now that would be great fun!

I landed several nice brownies with this fly in Colorado last month, Thanks for that!

  • Davie, you should write up a book called "Modern and Classic Flies" if it's not already taken. I know I would buy that book

  • Hi sasquatch446,

If I only had the brains to do this then I would...

    All the best Davie

  • Hi aknames,

I'm glad you liked the fly, the material I used is Adult Seals Fur I like it especially for my dries and emerger caddis patterns, I bought it from a company called Tackle and Tying you will find it on the internet. If he hasn't got it on his site e-mail him and say that you saw it on my videos...

    All the best Davie

  • @DavieMcPhail

    Thanks for the response Davie.

  • @DavieMcPhail Sorry Davie, but this company ended up being dodgy. Not your fault, I think he just lost interest in his business.
