This was the only event she could do. She sprained her ankle just before the team competition began. I'm glad she was able to compete in something though. Not quite what she imagined her Olympic dream to be, but at least she got to contribute something. I've always admired her.
Because this was the team final and her coach (who isn't a 'team' coach) had to sit in the stands. Valeri was a designated team coach, so he was there to spot all the girls.
Her A score was 6.8 and 8.925 B score. It was 7.0 in the prelims, but it got downgraded in the finals.
Chellsie Memmel is one of the truly sad stories of these Olympics. She was SO good at Trials. Such a shame that she didn't get a chance to show the world how good she is.
Her Jam to Handstand wasn't fully to 'Hanstand', so she lost the connection to her dismount. I personally did not see any deduction, but the judges did.
I love how the picture for this video is her jam =D

It's amazing what gymnasts can do with major injuries! Look at her with her broken ankle!! (or was it foot?)

Oh she so would have made bar finals without the fall in qualies.
I'm glad Marta gave her the chance to "hit" in TF despite the injury. :-)

@oubeauty2008 Actually Liang Chow (Shawn Johnson's coach) was the designated team coach. Just putting that in there :)

Only two coaches are allowed on the floor in TF, and her coach wasn't one of them it was Valeri Liukin and Liang Qiao

Hmm, why was it downgraded? The two routines seemed similar in difficulty...
