  • couldnt agree more, but all Valdesi kata is done with explosive movement, kime and as i think you will agree not bad technique. Theatrical YES. Ithink the main point is to stay true to our roots and how budo karate is passed on to us, but we should not dismiss the quality of the wkf guys , theatrical or not.

Look at the likes of ENOEDA , BRENNAN AND OHTA. AND YAHARA, KAGAWA AND ARAGAKI , MAYBE these karateka like Kanazawa are more to your liking. OSSU

  • Hi guys, you must remember this vid is from a series of JKA training videos and is not a competition. It merely demonstrates the moves of the kata , if it were a competition it would probably look more like whaty Luca Valdesi Sensei would do with it . Hope this helps.

  • @jony2steaks I hate what Valdesi and his ilk have done to this kata.

They have ruined it with their over theatrical performances.

^ THIS is the way it should be done.

  • I have a question as I'm a beginner and like to watch the advanced katas. I know this is a Kata which is normally performed by a Sensei, and that this Kata does look easy but should have a lot small things which makes it more ehh subtle. Are ALL hip 'stands' correct? It looks to me that he should punch in Shomen iso hanmi as shown in the vid??

And is his Zenkutsu dachi correct?

    Thanks in advance!
