@PoppingSanta spanish american war the took lots of colonies from spain it was the firsr time the were and the world stage the dint hava e the a army but they mostly use their navy and people mark that war as the starting point of their becoming a world power
@PoppingSanta Not really. The Spanish American War brought us out of relative isolationism and onto the world stage. In WWI all we really were to the allies were reinforcements, but the fact that we pulled together such a large force in a short time was impressive and set a precedent for WWII. Not to mention we were manufacturing arms for the allies throughout the war (some neutrality).
I'm guessing that you didn't really read my short comment. Yes, World War One brought the United States of America onto the world stage. But not as a Word Power. When WW2 started the United States didn't have much of an army (don't know about the Navy, Air Force or Marine Corps though, but I've heard that the USMC where in no fighting condition either) to fight a major war with.
With that said, The U.S.A became a World Power after World War Two, not World War One.
@PoppingSanta And about every history professor or buff would disagree with you. The US's victory of the Spanish is considered their entry as a world power. Though even I would say it was more WWI that solidified it.
Yes you are. The problem is that it's all hidden behind a wall of made up freedom and democracy and so it's much harder for you to see than for someone that lived in The Soviet Union to see.
Don't you know what propaganda is? Your government is just filling your heads with a bunch of lies. Your government is telling it's people to sit down, shut up and do what they're told to do, without thinking about it. It's sad really. Alot of other governments are doing so too so it's not about The U.S government being the only bad guy.
I'm not one of those guys that hates everything the U.S does just because I don't like the U.S, I just see the U.S doing -
Pearl Harbor, 9/11, Iraq and it's non exsisting nuclear weapons, Watergate (Which (?) failed misserably but it was still all about lies and cheating) etc. I also would not call a country were homosexual war heroes gets fired just because they're homosexual the "land of the free".
@PoppingSanta What does "propoganda" have to do with anything about the US's status as a superpower? It's not like it really matters if "they" lie to us about when our country became a Super power. What does it accomplish. Your point makes no sense for this topic.
The U.S propaganda affects almost all it's citizens, and that includes historians. And of course it matters if they are lying about when the United States of America became a superpower.
Imagine if historians would start saying that Roman Republic became a superpower i 400 B.C, that would mess alot of things up. Like the already shitty education system now present in the United States.
This is one by Hew Strachan right?
